MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : Is Targeting "For-Profit" Schools Fair?

They may be accredited but the number of people graduating from them is under the norm and those able to get jobs is also lower then most. http://chronicle.com/article/A-Damning-Portrait-o...

This is just one more example of our elected representatives NOT doing their job and using the budget as a means of advancing their own selfish agendas. Perhaps we should start docking THEIR pay. I personally see NO difference between Progressives and Conservatives. BOTH are minorities trying to shove their agenda/believe systems down the throats of the majority.

MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : VA Health Care Programs for Women Vets

As a female veteran I've seen the attempts of the VA to make things better for female veterans. One idiotic idea was to give us a separate entrance. The other was naming it the Women Veterans (should have been Female Veteran as we don't say men veterans do we???) Most of us use the VA because it's what we can afford not what we prefer. I'm lucky that I have a good VAMC here in Grand Junction (wish all VAMC were as good). But their pain treatments are poor as is the PTSD treatment for female veterans. And I've filled out the survey for several years. NO WHERE does it ask WHY I use the VA.

MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : Fiscal Cliff: VA Likely to See Collateral Damage

The entire "Fiscal Cliff" is created by the politicians to excuse their not doing their jobs. We vote these idiots in time after time. We need to start voting intelligently and maybe get rid of both parties (who are both so entrenched in their own power that they don't give a crap about us). I am a libertarian and believe in term limits and researching those I vote for. We CAN get a government that works for the good of the citizens. We just have to have more then 30% of the citizens voting and we need for them to vote intelligently.

MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : Congress Wants Your Input on Veterans Services

The entire comp system is badly managed. I bet if it was compensation for our politicians the system would be fixed and fixed quickly. Why isn't the dependent compensation approved at the SAME time as the VETS?

I've never heard a sillier statement in my life. Just what do you think your arms and legs are worth? I see these new veterans at the VAMC when I go for appointments and they are patriotic and have given up much to serve. I've never know a mercenary to work for the wages our soldiers are paid. You need to do some research before you make such a statement.

All who serve, contribute and although I was ARMY (I'm married to a Navy Veteran), I believe that the Navy, Air Force, Coastguard and Marines are not only equals but my brothers and sisters in arms. Every service member is valuable and none are overpaid. I've seen lots of Airforce, Navy and Coast Guards who gave their LIVES for this country. My Dad (an E8 when he retired after 30) used to say there were no unimportant parts of our military (except 2nd Lts! LOL) . Go to the lists of our dead and see if all of them are Army or Marines? Remember All give some and some give all. That's the reason we have the different branches of Service. I notice you didn't even leave a name.

I agree with you. It's time to get real. I've spent most of my life in the military. first as an Army Brat, then as a service-member and then as a dependent. I've watched soldiers applying and receiving FOODSTAMPS so their family can eat. I've watched as soldiers and their families lived in slums because of the wages they were paid. My Mom & Dad could only survive because she worked (something rare when I was growing up). There is something very wrong with this picture. Why are our politicians whose biggest threat is a paper cut getting paid many times what most of their constituents make and certainly more then the average soldier makes? This doesn't include all that they get paid for side deals, speaking engagements (and some are charging fees to speak with the people that voted them in!). I never complained about what I made as a soldier. I had the stupid idea that if I was disabled that my country would take care of me and if I died my family would be cared for. Everybody seems to make money except the soldier, the working poor and the common folk. I've worked all my life (from the time I was 11) Now my health is failing because I was exposed to toxic Chemicals by Monsanto and my governemtn without my knowledge. I only found out a few months ago that while in basic training I was poisoned and my government doesn't feel they have an obligation to notify anyone about their exposure. It's only once we've wasted money on the courts does the government step up and try to compensate the people they have injured. There are 2 sides to every story and maybe you think it's OK that people who put their lives on the line many times get paid less then a kid who asks "do you want fries with that?" Although my Dad was proud when I joined up he also told me to make sure and use my GI bill to get an education because he said our country never appreciates their military and they certainly never pay them what they are worth.

I find it laughable that a bunch of over paid "servants of the people" have the balls to even ASK that question. Let's CUT their pay and benefits and take OUR government BACK. both the Democrats and Republicans have forgotten who they work for. I voted for 3rd party candidates because their platforms stood for something other then greed. I didn't vote for the Libertarian Presidential Candidate because he was a Republican. I'm sick of politicians telling everyone else THEY must tighten their belts while the politicians just keep enlarging THEIRS!!!! I've watched our VAMC staff working without enough doctors, nurses, and other staff. I see peeling paint in patients rooms while the "public" area has undergone 4 revamps. I see vets wondering how they are going to pay their co-pay for needed meds and others doing without. I've seen the VA stop pain medications for most veterans unless they have cancer. Just who paid with THEIR blood for this great nation....soldiers and vets or politicians? Unless Americans wake up and start voting and holding elected officials accountable we will continue to see American citizens rights and lives degraded.

War on Doctors / Pain Crisis : Dear VA: This is Pain Care?

ATTENTION ALL VETERANS BEING TREATED FOR PAIN All veterans had better beware if they are on opioid therapy. The PTB at the VA are pressuring ALL VAMC doctors in the system to wean patients with chronic pain off the meds as quickly as possible. NO exceptions. And when I tried to go in and talk to the Director of the VAMC here apparently Vets aren't good enough to see him. So exactly what does he do other then screw vets? I'm pretty unhappy with the entire system right now and If I had the money I would tell the VA to screw off. If other vets are being weaned off their med by VAMC doctors please contact me. I'm trying to put enough pressure on the VA to stop this misguided effort that will end up with many of us in body bags.

MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : 1.9% Pay Raise Not Likely

How much is your life worth? Because that's why the pay is what it is. And I don't think it's enough especially since many of these folks are being sent to the war zones 3 and 4 times. And the PTB's wonder why suicides and PTSD are going up. Let's put their butts in the war zone 1 time and most would be pissing themselves. Our government choose to make the military smaller and then they chose to invade Iraq and they say you go with the army you have not the army you want? No you don't just go to war without making sure you have enough troops to do the job right. I personally think we don't pay them enough especially when they have to go back so many times. I'm glad my Dad isn't alive to see this. He went to Nam 3 times but he volunteered to go that many times.

It's not fair that those on SS and SSD won't be getting a raise either. None of this is fair. I don't think that our "servants to the people " should get automatic raises but I guess if you make the rules you can do what you please. Until we start demanding better candidates and election reform nothing is going to change. Right now a regular guy can't afford to run for office. We might as well just put big for sale signs on the offices. Of those bitching here, how many voted? How many voted a straight ticket? How many actually took the time to look at the records of those running and didn't vote because of one issue. How many of you write your legislators on a regular basis and look at how they vote on issues? I'd love to see some really constructive ideas on who we can improve things for everyone, not just us.

We should be used to this treatment. I bet the congress and senate get their raise. The excuse is that there has been no inflation. Where do these people get their stats? And where do they shop that prices have not gone up? What about the disabled vets, those on SS and SSD? They will see NO raise for the 2nd year in a row. Yet we're paying increased co-pays on our meds and it's getting harder and harder to see our doctors. Funny how they forget the promises made when they needed bodies to serve. I'm sick of people in both congress and the senate becoming millionaires on the backs of the working class and military. My husband hasn't seen a raise in 5 years now and I haven't gotten an increase in my disability for 2. Yet every year they get an automatic raise that they NEVER turn down. Why the difference? It's time for us to start calling them on this crap. It doesn't matter if they're Democrats or Republican or even tea party (who by the way said that health care for everyone was wrong but screamed when they found out THEY wouldn't get their health benefits (paid for by who????) until they started work), they're all crooks and liars and I'm sick of it. I'm tired of voting for the lesser of 2 evils. It's time there were real candidates to vote for. People who actually care about this country and it's people. This whole financial mess was created by the very people making tons of money off of it. There should have been NO bailout and I agree Congress and the Senate should have to take a huge pay cut (minimum wage sound good) and in exchange let's put them in low income housing. Then they wouldn't need so much money. They'd be living in the conditions they've deemed good enough for others. Many disabled veterans live in such places because their disability was cut when they were re evaluated by the "doctors" who do the evaluation exams. I know mine was cut by 10% because the doctor said I could stand on one leg. I have no cartilage left in either knee so how could I stand like that ? I’ve heard worse from other vets. Sorry for the rant but I’m so sick of them pissing on my head and telling me it’s rain. We must put aside our petty differences and pull together to fix these problems. We can't help anyone else until we fix ourselves.
