chainsawsuit by kris straub : good idea

For the sake of argument here, do you really think that a mosque that has garnered this much national attention will somehow slip under the radar? That they'll somehow be able to harbor terrorists without anyone noticing? The government will obviously be keeping close tabs on the activity of this cultural center and its congregation.____All of the furor over this mosque flies in the face of the Constitution and the principles that this country was founded on, and I don't care how many times this has been said. It can't be said enough. This is election year politics, pure and simple. The Republicans, with few exceptions, are using the old tried-and-true method of using people's fears for political gain, and some weak-minded Democrats are nodding along to make sure they aren't left behind.

I'm mixed on this. While I agree with you, muffin7, that a new re-imagining does not mean the old movies cease to exist, or cease to be good, I also believe that if someone wants to do something different, then they should do something different. To take a classic character and do something drastically different with them, I have to ask: why not just do something new and original? Don't get me wrong, it's not always a bad idea to revamp an old character, an old story, an old concept, but sometimes the changes can go too far. All in all, though, I will reserve judgment until I see the final product.

It seems that if you mouse-over the Products header on that page, the password box pops up. There is code for it clearly visible in the source code, but I don't see the password in there. It's listed as #easteregg, though. Has anyone figured out the password?

That's funny. I was thinking the same thing about Burn After Reading. Hamlet 2 wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it gave me a few good chuckles.

/Film : More Stupid Dark Knight Sequel Rumors: Rachel Weisz as Catwoman

I agree. Catwoman could be a terrific choice. She doesn't need to be the main villian, either. Seeing as she's sort of ambiguous in terms of which side she's on at times, and adding to the fact that Batman is now a fugitive on the run, there is some terrific potential there. And in response to some who feel that she doesn't fit in to the Nolanverse, I would argue that she does, since she's essentially a cat burglar with a feline fetish. There isn't anything particularly outlandish about her that would make it difficult to write her as gritty and realistic.

I can't recall a single Woody Allen movie I've seen, and that includes The Purple Rose of Cairo, which was filmed in my old hometown. They never struck my fancy enough to bother. Also, Larry David annoys the hell out of me.

/Film : Star Trek in IMAX

I'll probably skip this on the IMAX. It's not that the value added features are necessary to make it worthwhile on the IMAX (whether it be added content, 3D, or even just being shot with IMAX cameras); however, it might be necessary for those that aren't huge fans of the series. In fact, even though I've enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, I'd probably have stuck with the regular theater for that if it wasn't going to have the additional 3D content. As for sitting too close: I was forced to sit in the front row for TDK (even with advanced tickets, I didn't get on line soon enough to avoid it), I didn't have a problem watching. Maybe it's just my IMAX, I wouldn't know, but there's still quite a bit of space between the front row and the screen.

I'm probably getting a 360 soon, and I would love to make use of this feature, but I don't have a need for an Xbox Live Gold membership, and it seems silly to pay for one just to do this.
