I sent you boys the pictures, and I don't believe the public really understands the state of the cbd. Response spectra shows ground acceleration in excess of 500APE design (normal Buildings), and spiking above 2500APE (essential buildings). The short of it is that the shaking exceeded design consideration, and we're bloody lucky when all is said & done.

And if they make it harder to obtain air rifles, what are the odds of the boys in blue finding themselves out-gunned more often in future? I think there is some merit to the idea that if the cops arm up, the crims will too, but it is fantasy to think that the crims will put down their weapons if the cops stay un-armed. To me, I can't see why they don't understand that changing the law (any law for that matter) will only change the behavior of those who respect the law.
