I haven't seen the details of the proposal, but I'm guessing everyone will be paying for it, not just those with lights in front of their property. That's why they're planning on adding it on to your water/sewer bill.

So, the tax increase is going to cost me $100 a year on top of the $600 I'm already sending them, AND now I have to pay for street lights. Perfect.

Most everyone in Michigan carries either a driver's license or a state ID card if they don't have a driver's license. Seems like a good place to start.

Won't work. An idiot I work with is annoyed by the warning ding when the seatbelt isn't fastened, so he buckles it in and then sits on it. You can't idiot proof the world.
