No Added Sugar : 100-Word Review: Blacklight: Tango Down (Multi)

Ah, Battlefield 1943. The first thing I ever reviewed for this site and still one of my favourites. It's nice to see others taking the same approach but it definitely needs to be as simple and streamlined as possible.

It seems to me that Microsoft are doing with Limbo the same thing they did with Braid - hike the price on a something that is guaranteed to sell then present that as proof that games will sell at the inflated price. As you say though Mark, it's hard to begrudge paying higher prices if it's going to a smaller developer. I'd sooner spend my money on this than on some online multiplayer!

Yep, at the risk of sounding like an achievement whore, there is nothing more frustrating than seeing player one get an achievement then nothing popping up for yourself.

No Added Sugar : Eyes on: Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, the most faithful videogame movie in history

The setup is the same but then Layton has one of his \\\'I\\\'ve got it\\\' moments and tells everyone the answer. I think my brain was just slipping into puzzle mode but the good professor is always going to beat me to it!

No Added Sugar : Opinion: Bad Company 2 is about as non-partisan as I Married A Communist

i think the two go hand in hand. Take Red Dead Redemption, which I've been playing today. The gameplay is fantastic and the world around you is incredible. Put a terrible game in that world and it wouldn't be half as appealing. Put that gameplay in a dull, lifeless world and it would be equally disastrous.

In reply to "why do the developers keep world building? They always talk about how important it is and its (almost) always rubbish. I find it hard to think of a game world that was genuinely (a) interesting and (b) impacted on the actual game." may I point you in the direction of GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, any Zelda game or even Mario 64. Would you rather play through a game full of grey corridors and faceless characters? Personally I think that the growing detail and immersiveness of game worlds is the biggest step forward game design has taken in the last few years.

No Added Sugar : Opinion: FFXIII is a text-based strategy game about masturbation

I'm reliably told that XIII gets good after about 20 hours. Game developers take note - this is not a good thing.

No Added Sugar : Review: Mass Effect 2 (Xbox 360)

Very much the gritty side of things but it's not without a sense of humour. There are some great jibes at the games industry in there and even a piece of Shakespeare performed by aliens.

No Added Sugar : Opinion: Your Videogame Sucks

It's sad that people waste so much time trying to change his mind on these things, he's clearly never going to budge on his views no matter what. If Braid and Flower can't convince him otherwise, I don't see what will.

No Added Sugar : Review: Dragon Age: Origins (Xbox 360)

There are some pieces of DLC for 360 but I don't think there is as much as the PC version. You really do need a mouse and keyboard for a game like this though, the 360 pad just doesn't have enough buttons to easily control everything.
