I was born and raised in Texas, and I love this state. I’ve lived up near DFW, down near Beaumont, and I’ve been in Austin for a while now. I’ve never actually lived outside of the state except for the 4 fabulous months I spent abroad in Paris, France, my favorite city on the planet.

There’s just something about it. They call it the city of love for a reason. Everything is fantastically romanticized, from the streets to the buildings to the people. Parisians get a bad rap, but they’re actually very kind and welcoming. The architecture will leave you breathless. The variety of food is great because the population is so diverse. Anything from French (of course) to Italian to Greek to Spanish to English; almost any European food you desire can be found in Paris!

Of course I would be remiss if I failed to mention the sheer number of landmarks; in a word: spectacular. The ability to go the Eiffel Tower whenever you want is absolutely awesome. It’s such a beautiful structure with a great view of the best city on the planet. The Arc de Triomphe is a nice capstone on the Champs d’Elysées, a great place to go shopping. The Louvre is quite possibly the most famous museum on the planet and deservedly so. The Catacombs are an extremely surreal experience. The Luxembourg Garden in Paris is jaw-dropping; I made it a point to go there at least twice a week just to relax.

I could go on and on but there you have it. I wish I could put into words how wonderful Paris is, but it truly is something you just have to experience; live there and I’m positive you’ll feel the same way.
