You're right, based on experiences he had when he was 10 years old -- too bad he hasn't matured since then.

abscedere, you are correct -- most americans are not paying close attention because they are trying to make a living for themselves and their families -- but we are, and we need to identify the most critical situations and email friends, family, and ask them to send it on to friends and family -- include contact info for the appropriate congresscritters depending on the issue -- make it easy for folks to give their opinions to their elected officials and just maybe a good percentage of those will -- suggest a simple statement -- most people do care about this country, we should try to make it as easy as possible for them to voice their opinion. That's what we can do.

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV>gTex -- I'm trying to reply to the email to see what happens since the link in the email" go to comment" does not seem to work very well -- I be very confused, I'm sure it's just me--</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>To answer your question, the "Atlas Shrugged" that you linked to is an audio version -- but I would say for any book which is reprinted over the years the book text will always be the same but each edition may have someone else writing an introduction, etc.

Sometimes one can get a good clean copy of an older book on the used market, but I don't see that for hardcover editions of Atlas, only softcover -- it's a really thick book so if you can pay the difference I would recommend the hardcover, it well hold up much longer. </DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">

Thanks for the reply, Di_R -- I just get a little sensitive sometimes -- wish I was fully able-bodied and able to do more to participate to protect our country from ruin.

TO gTex

I am posting a new comment here because -- for some reason -- the "POST REPLY" button is inaccessible to me on all posts that follow my thread above, whether in reply to me or a totally new thread -- anyone else having this problem??

A must read is "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg -- I read it during the Presidental campaign and it creeped me out.

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

George Orwell's "Animal Farm"

Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World"

Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged"

Mark Steyn's "America Alone"

I think we have to define what we mean by adopting our culture. All should learn English in order to participate in the wider society. All must live under our laws -- we cannot allow two systems of laws to operate. An example of the problems that can occur when we allow two sets of laws is taking place in Europe, most notably lately in England, where they are foolishly attempting to operate under English law and for some Muslim citizens Sharia law -- it just doesn't work.

The big question -- at what point does the baby receive rights? Because that's what it's about -- abortion is a choice for one party only -- the baby cannot make a choice. So at what point is a human life granted the rights it's mother has -- to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

Deborah's right -- remember we must be people who know enough to honor the rules and laws of our country (unless they violate a higher authority)
