GazetteOnline.com : Iowa Senate leader predicts nonpartisan redistricting maps

I wish I could say you were right....but there is a permanent majority of ignorant and dependent now. There is a one-party system, and they keep a cadre of boogie men and straw women in the media as scape goats. Do not underestimate the bitter partisanship of those who are in power and wrote this story.

GazetteOnline.com : Johnson County supervisor candidate withdraws

It is a machine. You can't beat the machine. It will be interesting to see if Slockett and his office of partisans use the same care to canvass elections.........lol, they do not. when it is to their candidate's advantage to have "looser" control and integrity with elections. It is hard to armchair the performance of the Partisans because who knows what alternatives would have achieved. I do know why people are partisan in this county: Misguided social issue warfare that is contrived and wedged upon us, ancestral ignorance, suprising amount of over-educated and under-informed voters, and being cocktail party fashionable.

Actually, I mock the "social science" degree'd paper-wasters, but I must mock myself even more as they probably will ascend to tenure at some university, college, community college or other untouchable education industry stronghold. Great pay, recession-proof, great benefits with long vacations and TIACREFF(google that little scam they got going in Iowa). Send your children away to most colleges and you are rolling the dice that these types won't convert them to tatoos on the neck, gauged-eared rebels without clues. Tomper, why even get a degree beyond the minimal one it takes you to get a position with a government-employee-union bargaining unit. Unless you are uber-rich, that is where the next layer of security is going to be in New America.

GazetteOnline.com : Dad says Culver ‘saving’ Cedar Rapids

Why on earth would anyone give you a negative for that post? Yet, they did. The internet is full of salaried propagandists trying to affect public opinion I tell you! War Room politics 24/7. On a sincere note, I am sure Mr. Culver Senior feels the way he does, but he helped create the Federal/State/Local trickle-down bureaucracy that is incrementally changing America into some second-rate oligarchy of wonks.

nobody is going to get their legs cut off in November....If sheeple were not awake to this before, it isn't going to make a difference now. They have achieved a permanent majority of ignorant and government dependent. Our government policies and preoccupations are totally unsustainable...yet look at this board, rife with concern over stupid social red herrings and bitter partisan hackery. The Chinese and others who do not have this nation's best interests will pull the financial rug out in sudden and transformative fashion. Greek riots and worse coming to an urban area in America soon.

You get it dusty. The partisans who do not understand we have entered an era where unsustainable revenue extraction by government will have a reckoning. This is what over-centralization of government has brought. Very UN-American. People spend millions of dollars chasing and "grant writing" to get a few million more of somebody else's money, and then nobody rolls up their sleeves to fix any problems or get any work done for fear of bureaucratic retribution.....but our populist politicians want to get the plebs excited about race and other victim-status so-called rights all the time.

GazetteOnline.com : PHOTOS: Harkin tours damage in Lake Delhi area

Why must the Gazette offer up a photo op of a politician--of any party--with furrowed brow acting concerned for the latest disaster? Is this a Federal problem? Our reporters dutifully report everything as if they are Federal concerns...they are just printing money for food stamps, obesity advertising awareness campaigns, Census advertising awareness campaigns, roads, potholes, student loans. Could many issues--like floods-- be handled better in a different jurisdiction? Ask anyone in CR. Nero is fiddling and Louis XVIII has got the cowbell. And yes, I expect a -15 points by ignorant partisans within 24 hours.

You must have been watching those "Baby Einstein" videos that were proven so successful. I hope they show them at our new mandated 4year-old pre-K centers. Prediction 4 years for now: "We MUST have preschool for 3 year olds! Our nation depends upon it to compete in the world economy! What, you are against "education"????
That was Ted Kennedy's "No Child Left Behind" strategy. Legislation is passed in the house of representatives/senate and only signed by the executive branch presider...."president" is what we call him. You should have learned this in an adequate public education 10th or 11th grade class. Some colleges will teach you remedial U.S. government, but it is often rife with partisan influence instead of Truth. The most ignorant people--hands down--that I know are the most partisan.

This whole thread is evidence of the need for "education". Some proliferation of enlightenment and wisdom would be nice too. So expectedly, the debate turns into a "I am for the Kids more than you!" sanctimony and trotted-out-and-tired elimination of public education red herring. The Academic/Education complex wants both parties to have this arms-race escalation in "education" spending every 2 to 4 years. To what end? Please define "education" for me now? What I see funds going to could sure use public scrutiny or some reporters protecting the public instead of bunk like "Education Key difference....." What we should all be discussing is do we really need to yank 4 year olds away from loving Moms? What is the real result? Free daycare for double incomes....is that what we want as a society? 5th Generation Welfare moms being able to dump kids at 4 now so they can more easily lead their destructive lives instead of loving their children? 1500 years of Western Civilization points to the Kindergarten (yes, a German word in our vernacular) intead of Maoist infant indoctrination. Can we talk about this without Hate and Pretense? Oh, but we get the sanctimony of those who know all and think "education" cannot be questioned....do not speak to the man behind the curtain.

This story--and the "Associated Press"--is a crock of crap. All the wonks, partisans, and agenda-driven journalists want all kids indocrinated asap in a government system. Any normal Iowan who has survived daycare Hell knows that a young child is best where he/she is LOVED. Puppy/Tot mills with NEA domimatrixes teaching global warming at 4 is a waste, but their plan. Everyone doesn't have resources like a nanny or an eu pair like you smokin' Mari. The best place for four year olds is with their LOVING MOTHERS. Let's tax less so more mothers in working middle class families can stay home with their children.
