Isn't there a plan to require a year of service from our youngsters after ha schrool? have you seen the TV commercials with the paramilitary type kids in formation, all wearing the red jackets identifying them as volunteers to improve the city the live in. http://www.seacoastonline.com/articles/20091002-N... The story says they've been in business a decade, gotta admit I've never seen a formation of youngsters doing the daily 7 before getting to work.

What would happen if the president were impeached? Wouldn't VP Biden pick up the pieces in an attempt to wrangle Obamas supporters, and wouldn't the Speaker of the House fill the VP spot? What would impeachment change, on the grounds of citizenship, aside from ripping our population apart along color lines? I know there are many working to expose the presidents citizenship, but wouldn't all our time be better served in monitoring both hands of the Magician in Chief and acting on any and all injurious attacks on our Constitution? And going on skburtons comment below, term limits on representatives would do us all a favor, and an idea I saw in "America's wish list" of setting a single term of 6 years to a president would also help in focusing efforts on the country and out of re-election.

You know I just posted my wishes, but felt that I should mention that serving us in congress/senate was never meant to be a perk, it was a chore, a labor of love to serve the peoples interest with zeal and fidelity to the Republic. The pay should be reduced to a more fiscally responsible level, and no they can not vote on a raise, and no permanent 401K/health care. Only people that deserve our money for retirement or health care should be those that have toiled on the front lines, defending our freedoms, and spreading the word that we are a nation of giants, benevolent yes, but vengeful when our interests (as delineated in the US Constitution)are besmirched or our allies are threatened.

I have to say I hope that nothing comes of the presidents citizenship issues. First of all, if he were found to be a non-citizen he would have to be removed from office unless there was a nice piece of legislation wrapped into the "stimulus" bill allowing his presidency to remain unabated by "LAW". His impeachement would be constitutional, but I can assure you, many brain dead slackers would revolt because a black man is being hassled. Secondly, wouldn't that make Biden president and Pelosi VP (De facto or pro-tempore)? And all of the presidents EO's would be found unconstitutional and deleted. Wouldn't the POTUS and VP just re-instate whatever was stricken, since they seem to be as capable as a pack of wild mushrooms.

But the "loophole" was a contractual agreement agreed upon some years prior to our current economic distress. The only way for this company to retain the best is to pay the best. Now that 11 of the employees that received bonuses have quit, the portion of this company associated with the government will only get worse. That should make for easy pickings, regarding governments ineptitude when it comes to responsible business practice.

Leave it to government to make something simple a catastrophe of biblical proportions. You can not spend what you don't have. You can not pay yourself when you have no money. You can not provide endless benefits to people that don't contribute to your home(State). This is the "the bar keeps moving" speech given by Michelle Obama the first week of May (2008) before the North Carolina primary. In this speech she explains that America is a place where you just can't get ahead. "The minute you think you're about to make it, the bar moves."

Penn, I can honestly say, I have been very critical of all the drunken spending authorized by President Bush, I am aware that during the Republican majority, they sat on their collective asses and did nothing we asked them to do. D/R does not matter, if you let them do as they wish, they no longer represent you and your wishes. Can you fathom how out of touch all our elected reps can let themselves get when inside the beltway? Do you know how many lobbyists are throwing goodies at them for their favor? Keep an eye on your perceived "enemy" Republicans, but don't let the other party slide just because you have some chip on your shoulder. Let's be adult here, this is OUR country and we all have to share it. Those people in Washington work for us, when's the last time you didn't have to pass a background test for a job, they are no dofferent, and their decisions affect all of us!

Don't forget Chris Dodd has failed to produce his home mortgage papers, after 6 months, to prove he didn't get himself a sweet heart deal. How long would we have to prove we're not lying thieves?? I might as well rig my electric meter to set my electric bill at $70 a month, and not report any additional earnings on my taxes, and the real estate agent that I used, that somehow did something wrong in processing our mortgage/home purchase should not have been arrested.
