Celtics 17 : Boston might be in trouble.

Completely agree on both the comment and the article. But although this might not be the same circumstances as the Cleveland series, what happened after the Cavs blew the Celtics out in game 3 of the last series? They went on to tidily streak through their next six games. Home, or away.

Celtics 17 : Chuck and Kenny Preview the Celtics-Cavs Series

No I certainly agree that Chuck isn't the best analyst, but he posed a reasonable argument for the Cavs. They have the Shaq, grind-'em-out, Cavs, and the worse matchup for Boston, the athletic, JJ Hickson/LBJ/Andy V Cavs. I still like the Celtics after proving yet again that they can slow down a team with an offensive firepower like Dwyane Wade.

Celtics 17 : KG: Old Dog Doing Same Tricks

To me, I still think Garnett is a top 10 defender in this league and can easily post a 20-10 if he decides to splurge energy-wise. The problem is, Garnett doesn't have that enthusiasm game after game, so his decision to step it up usually depends on the game situation. Still though, I'm not complaining by a veteran who fears no one defensively and chalks up 15-8s regularly. But you hit the nail on the head here. I think it's more Garnett's transition from the league's best in '04 to an aging star that upsets the fans. He tries to make up the emphatic dunks he threw down years before frequently with barks and chest bumps. In the end, Garnett's about being the best. And I can't disrespect that attitude.

Excellent point KJN. That's one of my least favorite rules in the league. It's a natural reaction to jump up when someone you're rooting for, fighting along side of, is harmed either physically or verbally, and they shouldn't be given coincidences for it unless they contribute to the mishap by stepping over the line. Fans of the '07 Suns are slowly nodding their head right now.

Very good points Squingy. I'd rather have zero suspensions (which also means I'm wholeheartedly disagree with Farnham for "faking" an injury), but if Garnett's going to absent for game two, so are others. Richardson was over there when he wasn't supposed to, even if it was for kind reasons, and two... He wasn't over there for kind reasons! He also got tied up with Garnett and was in the middle of the whole shebang. Never mind being the one to fire it up. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks KneeJerk. I personally believe they just have to step up to Miami. A lot of guys on that team are too inexperienced in a playoff environment to react quickly enough and regain a lead or at least a tie ball game. Thanks for the comment!

Celtics 17 : Where To Build The Great Wall

Good post KneeJerk... I think that Wall and Rondo have a lot of similarities to drive to the basket and have the eye to look at find someone around the basket or with an open look. That all entails quickness and court vision. Quickness in that they have to be able to get around their defender swiftly and stably enough to have the balance to dish the ball, and court vision to tap into that eye and find someone while they still have an open shot. The difference? I find that Rondo takes shorter, more deliberate steps, while Wall glides very loosely with long strides. Both techniques can hurt -- in Rondo's case, while he still has exceptional quickness no matter how long the stride, I sometimes find that he can get to the basket quicker when he chooses to extend has legs (which only happens when there's just one defender between Rondo and the basket). In Wall's case, at least in the NBA, he'll have to learn how to direct his body in a split second if faster, stronger, smarter, more agile NBA defenders pop up in front of him and still maintain that long stride. If he can't, more travels, carries, and perhaps even ball-handling turnovers will come into play. It'll be an interesting first year.

Celtics 17 : Ugh.

Totally agree. And they're completely disregarding and even insulting Isiah Thomas. Thomas averaged 9.3 career assists and even lead the league in assists one year with 13.9 apg. And how do they gush over LeBron without mentioning Pierce, who was one of the decade's revolutionizers of the point forward? I really do like James -- in fact, he's one of my favorites. But this is a little much.

Celtics 17 : Celtics Lose to Nets: Wow

Good points. I like the fact that Rondo is being more aggressive lately, but he seems to be burning out way before he's expected to slow down. In the third and fourth quarters in the Cleveland game, we really could've used him to counter their slew of run-'n-gun attacks with a fast break game and a determination that showed defensive belligerence to get the Celtics going. He seems to have the team's energy and adrenaline high early, but collapses late. Maybe the team's habit of falling apart in the second half is partially due to him? Thanks for the comment!

Not only that they need to start winning, Jack, but first commit themselves to showing the fans that they care by putting an effort. This team isn't putting up the results it deserves, and obviously there's multiple reasons why, some bigger than others. Thanks for the comment!

Celtics 17 : The Arrival of Heroes: Where I Don't Care That Kobe Didn't Play

Great point. Also, the last time we played them, we lost by one, and we had double-digit leads along the way. This game, the game was generally close and we won by one point. LA fans need to realize that the Lakers are nearly or in some instances just as tough as they are with Kobe, and that this is caused by the players Kupchak acquired on the LA squad for a REASON, and furthermore, their ability to step up when others -- yes, even Kobe's vast gap -- are absent.

Celtics 17 : Rumors, Thoughts, and Kindling the Trade Deadline Fire

I can't honestly say if it will make them a much better team. I haven't watched the Lakers much aside from the Boston games and nationally televised matches, but I do know that they need a ball mover. And as much as Hinrich can shoot and defend, he's not going to be keeping the ball going off the bench.

Celtics 17 : More Rumors: Larry Brown Has His Eye on Rasheed, and Kevin Martin Is Likely to Stay

A LOT of teams are shopping for Iggy, so it's up in the air. But I can't see why Ainge wouldn't at least be looking for him. Kevin Martin appears to be his no. 1 target for big names, but as mentioned, that trade might be a bit too much to ask of the Kings. All I know is, we're trying to make a move.

Celtics Town : Throwing some dimes: Rondo blade talk, Allen trade talk

I still think we should trade Ray Ray for Kevin Martin and ANOTHER piece, or for Iggy and ANOTHER piece (those are the only two deals I'm taking), but my latest rant is: Attitude is the problem. Get rid of Sheed. Anyway you can. He's just dead weight. He's talented, but he's a dog. It's infested the team. They aren't working hard anymore.
Celtics 17 : Scott Souza: Will It Be Enough?

Well I guess what I'm trying to point out is, there's a strong chance that Glen Davis will snap out of his slump, Ray Allen will get a bit more consistent, and on and on. You can't cure age, but you can certainly fully utilize what you have. And so far, the team is certainly slumping in many areas.
