Sometimes I do partial fasts of not eating certain things. But during Ramadan, I feel that I must not do any fasting at all. The biggest issue is, why is a 21 year old woman still living with, and dependant on, her parents? Have they systematically disempoweed her for years? Are they afaid of losing her? Or worse, are they afraid of losing control over her? In any case this is not an emotionally healthy situation for the woman. Unless this changes, it's an emotional situation that will get worse for her, not better, as time passes. This will be true even without the complication of abortion, because adults need their independance in order to be emotionally healthy and not go around the bend with frustration. The fact that her parents are controling her and making important decisions for her against her will, using their financial power to enforce their will, only aggravates the problems for this woman. She feels she can't live as she wants to. She needs to find a way to break away from her parents financially. A Crisis Pregnancy Center can help her do this. They may be able to point her to resources in the community. In the case of Child Protective Services, it would protect the child from embarrassment or discrimination coming from people who like to pick on those with less fortune than themselves. This in turn protects the child from an undeserved bad reputation. But if the child is dead, all that becomes a moot issue. The child is safe in heaven and nobody can embarrass or discriminate against him/her. So why does CPS need confidentiality in discussing the case of a deceased child? The child no longer needs it. But it's useful to CPS if they had a hand in the death by putting the child in a dangerous home. In this case, it doesn't protect the child, it just helps CPS cover their butt. I say that we should wave confidentiality when the child is deceased. It will help the deceased child get justice in cases where there was an injustice done. It will also make judges and CPS workers feel very accountable for their actions, in the event those actions lead to tragedy. Then they will think carefully about what they do, before they do it. Life may be too hard in that situation to coddle anybody, not even children. These people would probably do better if they could, but they just don't have the resources.
