Do we notice the (person) and (guy) parentheses? Would be interesting for full disclosure to know what the media is covering up for this race-baiting idiot. Were these profanities they pulled out, or racial epithets? Not that a black person could ever be racist... oh no, that couldn't EVER happen. Look at the picture... who in their right mind wears over-the-ear headphones to sit on the sidelines at a pro basketball game, unless your name is Kevin Calabro and there's a microphone attached? What a doofus. And by the way... just exactly how is this story "news"? Can't we hear about intelligent people doing respectable things every once in a while instead of self-absorbed crybaby celebrities acting like selfish infants?

Interesting, this is the same group that owns The Summit at Snoqualmie (as well as many other ski resorts nationwide). I wonder if Stevens Pass will eventually fall under the Boyne management group, which operates both Crystal and The Summit.

This was an AMAZING win for the Hawks against a very good team... and I was appalled by the sucky downer sour-grapes announcing tone by Thom Brennaman and Troy Aikman, especially on the post-game show. It's obvious which side they were cheering for. East coast bias? No, of course not

It never ceases to amaze me - the vile, bitter, petty, and downright hateful things that are said, even to the point of advocating violence... and they are said in this forum by those who vilify the use of "hate speech". I don't condone the content of the leaflets... and I don't condone responding to them or their distributors with hate. Rise above, people.

Nobody said non-homeowners are bad people. The comment was made about insurance companies pricing "ownership beyond means." So, who has insurance? According to a 2010 survey on Apartments.com: "Despite the fact that renters are 50 percent more likely to experience theft than those who own homes, nearly 70 percent of survey respondents said they do not carry renters insurance." And that only covers theft. What percentage of renters who have theft insurance do you expect also carry liability coverage? Very few, I'd guess.

Don't kid yourself about insurance companies having any influence here. That will only impact honest, hard-working people who buy insurance. There are plenty of uninsured non-homeowners out there and/or those who simply don't report their animal(s) or their breed. They only think of themselves and don't consider the consequences of the harm their animals can do. The lack of insurance isn't going to stop them.

Going between slowed/stopped traffic is called "lane splitting" and you are correct that it's not legal in Washington state. It is, however, in California; you'll find riders doing it all the time on backed-up freeways and even at stop lights. I'm not saying it's safe... just legal and commonplace down there.

Please don't try to put sportbike riders on a pedestal - "We are just like you, but have more control and are more aware of our surroundings." That's a load of self-promoting baloney. You're not invincible either, and you shouldn't think of yourself as better than anyone else. Please don't use platitudes - "At least this kid died doing something that made him happy." Oh really? Did flying 400+ feet through the air after impaling his bike into the front of an oncoming vehicle make him happy? Did leaving grieving family and friends behind make him happy? Did endangering the lives of untold drivers and other riders make him happy? Did sending another innocent victim to the hospital make him happy? Please don't soft-sell or excuse the young man's absurd actions - "It is a bit selfish to speed on public roads." A *BIT* selfish? His actions were far more than a *BIT* selfish. To try and say it was anything less than criminal is nothing short of a con job. I'm not buying it, and neither will anyone else with an ounce of common sense. Please don't try and put all the blame on auto drivers in an attempt to divert attention from this particular rider's misdeeds. Statistics may be on your side, but in no way does quoting them explain or excuse the rider's choices to endanger the lives of numerous others by riding in a clearly unsafe manner. Yes, I am both a motorcyclist and a cager. I'd rather live to ride another day than to think so poorly of myself that I must ride in an unsafe fashion just to say I've "lived".

The WSP display at the Puyallup Fair always has a mangled car; lately it's been reminding people about the dangers of texting and driving. I hope they get this car and bike and put them on display to remind the young bucks out there that they really aren't invincible.

I have to wonder if the local news media should share some of the honor of this hollow act. It's thanks to them... KOMO included... that this story has gained legs. Williams has been consistently depicted in the media simply as a "native American woodcarver", a totally different mental image than the one Ken presents here - a man with 24+ criminal CONVICTIONS (not just arrests), who lived a self-destructive life of alcohol abuse on the streets. His behavior is a shameful depiction of native Americans, yet that component has been largely whitewashed or ignored by the media. Kudos to Ken for finally pointing that out. I do not dismiss or condone the police officer's action, or the need for review and/or change in the SPD. Williams probably didn't deserve those bullets, that is for sure. But the coverage of this whole thing has been one-sided pandering, and more than likely that's what has kept the story alive, leading to mayor McNothing's proclamation. I'm tired of hearing about it every stinkin' day.
