There appears to be some sort of connection between the 789 Chrysler dealers that have been targeted for closure and political party donations! Would you believe that those who donated primarily to the GOP are the same that made the closure list? Interesting political strategy, especially since executives at Chrysler have not given a reason that these particular dealers were targeted, or even why and how closing dealerships has anything to do with a successful restructuring plan. Dealers BUY cars from Chrysler. Wouldn't more dealers be better? Unless you wanted to stop them from donating to Republicans!

I am doing my best at this time to learn about our founding fathers and the great depression and the current economic crisis and... I just have to say that I absolutely cannot keep up with the reading that Glenn suggests! I have finished several books, a stack of books to read, and now have a list of books to order. I know that these things are important, and I do have the desire to learn, but there has got to be an easier way, or a book that can make this task easier. Or maybe someone could loan me their time machine so that I can go back in time to catch up on the reading...

Secure our borders! How do we do that? Make employers who hire illegal aliens responsible by applying the laws that are already in place! This should not create a bigger government because the e-verify system is already available. Maybe faced with federal criminal charges, business owners would be less inclined to hire those who are here illegally, and faced with real deportation, maybe the illegals will take the necessary steps to become legal. Why would they become legal now if it only means that they would then be required to pay taxes on all of their illegal earnings? Again, these laws are already in place, it's time we start enforcing them!
I have actually been saying that serving in Congress or the Senate should be like jury duty: mandatory, short term, and no campaigning. What if you got a letter in the mail that said that it was your turn to serve? We will make sure your employer holds your job for you, and will pay you a minimal fee for your service. These jobs should be undesirable, but held by ALL Americans at some point. Maybe then the laws would reflect what the people really want and believe in.
I think the most important thing we need to be looking at right now is ACCOUNTABILITY! Not just personal responsibility, but the ability of "we the people" to hold our elected and appointed leaders accountable to, at the very least, the laws that they are responsible for writing. We need to hold them criminally responsible if they have broken any laws, and remove them from office if they have broken laws. Why do we continue to accept that the Washington elite abide by a different set of rules than the rest of us? It is time to demand the equal application of law and hold our representatives accountable!
Just some food for thought...I, too, used to be for gun control for automatic weapons "which civilians don't need" but then I realized that automatic weapons are what the government has, and the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is to protect ourselves against a tyrannical government. How can we sufficiently protect ourselves if we allow the government to tell us which weapons are acceptable for protection? Should we then ban the use of automatic weapons by the military? Or why not go the way of the UK and ban guns altogether? Anyone heard that since the gun ban, violence in London is UP 400%? I am not saying that we should take up arms against the government, violence should always be a last resort. What I am saying is that ANY government control of or limitations on gun ownership, aside from registering handguns, is too much.
I was sitting here this morning wondering how much, if any, difference all of this that we are doing will make a difference, not wanting to give up. Then, I turned on the radio, and I am listening to Glenn talk to Compean and Ramos as they are being released from electronic monitoring. This is proof to me that WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! This is the time to stand up for what we know is right, to stand together, please America, DO NOT give up on this country, do not give up on each other, and do not give up on Glenn just because you are frustrated with this website. There will always be technological problems, especially when the traffic is so high, and this is a time to exercise patience. Thank God that the word is getting out and so many people are logging on to this site! God Bless!
