Thank you for the thoughtful explanation - very fascinating! I hadn't thought of navigation being so problematic underwater, but the inability to use standard equipment and lack of traditional navigational tools must be incredibly difficult. I could imagine a small robot using your thruster being used almost like an underwater drone, and being sent out from a larger vessel to explore small or hard- to-reach places like high pressure trenches. Perhaps some connection to a larger vessel could help mitigate the increased risk of losing such a small robot. But, as you said, there are many other issues that need to be explored and overcome first.

Thank you for explaining that. I can see how that could be much more useful for intelligence gathering than a destroyed drone. How concerned do you think private citizens and companies using sUAS should be about the vulnerabilities you found? Especially considering you used off the shelf models anyone can buy?

Obviously this research is closely tied to how your stakeholders operate in the field. How would you hope to see your research put into practice? Do you envision a modification of current practices and equipment, or a whole new lighting system to be deployed?

This is great research, and so clearly applicable to both private and military uses of sUAS. Can you tell me a little more about the introduction to the research, specifically what kinetic weapons are, and why they factor into how we exploit or protect sUAS in the field?
