I went to UW and didn't qualify for any significant aid due to my parents' income---which wasn't very much and they weren't paying a dime for my college since they had their own expenses to worry about, so I was working full-time making minimum wage while being a full-time student in order to pay my way. There's tons of aid out there for poor students, but what about the middle class who have just enough to cover their food and mortgage but not enough to send their kids to college? THESE legal taxpaying citizens are the ones who deserve more financial aid, not illegal immigrants who haven't paid a dime into the system.
