I think we have definitely gotten lost over the years. People are getting fed up EVERYWHERE, whether it is religion, government, business, or your best friend. We all know something is wrong( at least in our guts or just a knawing sub-conscience). How long will we take it? The world seems to be falling apart right now, probably because of just that. What do you think would happen if everything went public? They just passed the new statute in Florida that teachers will be paid on merit. This is what Mary is talking about. She was a good teacher but basically failed the last two evaluations because of who, and also criteria, was judging her. (drugs, gangs, just plain don't care- all pretty much problems of the parent) You are right when you say a teacher is a tool to use to advance as a human being in society.
