Ignorant and uneducated is basically what he's talking about when he says vulnerable. "Stupid" is a whole different subject. I advise against conflating ignorance and stupidity.

vjack, I've been reading your blog for a long time now and I have come to respect your embodiment of the freethinker ideal--being simultaneously willing to take a stance and willing to evaluate it. It is personally relevant that you have developed on a similar time-frame as I myself have, but it is nevertheless commendable that you continue to work toward becoming "less wrong."

I too have found myself unsure about the situation with the Freethought Blogs, coming to the logical if uncomfortable conclusion that there truly are no Correct players in this mess, and it is excellent that you have also shed some of the tribal "Us vs Them" mentality that intellectually hinders a dissapointing majority of all people. I fear this sounds like I am congratulating you on agreeing with me, but I only wish to commend your commitment to self-improvement and what it has brought you thusfar.

One of the reasons I rarely post comments is because I feel I do not truly add anything to most conversations. I suppose what I am trying to add to this post is that you shouldn't be unhappy with discovering hypocrisy. Dissatisfied, certainly, but it should be exciting to realize you are in a position correct a behavior that you believe is ethically undesirable. Keep fighting the good fight, friend. You're doing well.

Oh, and also thank you for being a constructive voice in the Atheist movement for all these years. That is also commendable :) Feel free to keep doing that

"The ability of a belief to bring comfort is not a valid indicator of the belief's worth" that looks good to me.
