Big Government : Rushing To Trouble

I usually ignore e-mail forwards, but I agree with most of the responders that this is too good not to pass on, and I'll do my part. However, I did make one small change to the third part of the second installment, especially since most religions are "foreign": If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. If a liberal is a non-believer, he wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it’s a brutal, savage and misogynist medieval religion, of course!)

Big Hollywood : Garofalo Trashes 'Tea-Baggers' as 'White Power Movement' Led By Limbaugh, Beck...

I would have liked to have seen some more of that segment on whatever program that was. I think that was Tom Friedman sitting next to her nodding his head, but I didn't recognize any of the rest of them. I never cared much for Friedman, but I thought he had more sense than that. The others I saw didn't seem to me to be showing approval for her remarks. Yep, I wish I could have seen their replies.

Big Hollywood : SHOCK! Rush Limbaugh Embraces Capitalism

"You probably have a degree, don't you." Nope, I don't. I didn't intend to trash anybody, and sorry if my post came across that way, but not having a degree, perhaps my language didn't quite convey exactly what I meant. I certainly didn't mean to say that "one cannot have independent thought or value and listen to Rush or talk radio." I did listen to Limbaugh and Hannity, as well as Mark Levin, for a few years pretty regularly, but once I got an Internet connection I moved into places like this one, and seldom go back to talk radio. Actually, I go to Levin's site occasionally and listen to some of his latest show. There are only so many hours in the day, and at 75 I don't have that many hours left, and there are other activities I like to engage in that don't involve politics. My first presidential vote was for Eisenhower in 1956, when Limbaugh was about 5 years old, so I can safely say my conservatism predates his by a few years, not that that makes any difference to anything or anybody. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding, and didn't mean to insult anybody.

Like Mr. Boering, I don't listen to Limbaugh either, for the same reason I don't listen to any talk radio. I agree with most of what Limbaugh, Levin, etc. say, and don't have to listen to them for three hours every day to validate my beliefs. However, I never miss a column by Limbaugh's brother David.

Big Hollywood : EXCLUSIVE: DeVore and Free Speech Win Round One Vs. Don Henley

Nobody said you "weren't allowed," but in my case I was only suggesting that you would be more credible if you had shown that you had similarly responded to "unethical behavior" from the Left. Claiming that someone is saying you're "not allowed" and that they're "shouting you down" tells me all I need to know about your lofty sense of morality and ethics.

So, is this the first time you've been disturbed by this sort of political parody, or are you only outraged when it comes from the Right? It would help your credibility if you had a track record of taking the same umbrage when the Left "steals" in this fashion, and if you could demonstrate such.

"Many people think that the Russians also walked on the moon, but this is untrue." Hey, wait a minute! The Russians did so walk on the moon. I saw it in the movie "The Mouse on the Moon." They started building a wall as soon as they got there!

Big Hollywood : The Beauty of Modern Airline Travel

The photo took me back to those golden days of yesteryear when I was a pilot for a major airline, and I recall seeing that very photo in PSA ads. I also deadheaded on PSA occasionally, and got to see their costumes up close and personal, of which I have fond memories. I took early retirement with a cash buyout in 1986 when I lost confidence in my employer's ability to survive, a decision which I never regretted although my timing was a bit off and the company lasted for another 15 years before it was absorbed into another airline. The descriptions in this comment section of flying in those days are accurate, as my personal experience from 1965-1986 will attest. I did a lot of traveling for about 10 years after I retired, but finally got tired of it and haven't been aboard an airliner since 1996. Sometimes I think I'd like to take a trip somewhere just to see if all those horror stories I hear from others are true, but the urge soon leaves me. If you'd like to take a nostalgic look at airline history where you will see the picture gracing this post as well as many others, see: http://www.funstufftosee.com/goodbye.html
