This Koran 111:1-5 about Muhammad's hatred of Abu Lahab has always impressed me as one of many clear indications to a sane person that the Koran is a direct fabrication of Muhammad himself. This is not the way the Creator of the marvelous & intricate universe would talk. This is clearly human vindictiveness showing its very human traits. Mo was very annoyed by Abu Lahab telling people not to listen to him because he's nuts and obviously this "revelation" from Allah was no more than Mo's vengeance lust. Again, I say there is no excuse for an intelligent person to be a Muslim.

The Brits are such suckers for the Muslim "sensibilities" scam. It's not that Muslims are so bothered by the few times a woman police officer might come into a mosque on duty showing her hair, this is just part of getting the British infidel use to accommodating what Muslims say they must have. Give in on a seemingly little matter here and then there and after a while it just becomes natural to just give in to Islamic culture - esp. more & more Sharia eventually. Disgusting. Politicians get elected and they and their cronies get control of your money. Naturally they're generous with other people's (taxpayer's) money. This is how they build their international status at no cost to themselves - such a deal! If Obama wants to impress the Muslim world that he's on their side, why he has Hilary gladly give hundreds of millions of taxpayer's money to Palestinians who will celebrate just as hard at the next 9-11 and work harder at destroying Israel. The Palestinians are not America's friends. They hate infidel America for supporting Israel and I don't think most Americans approve of this absurd largess especially during a deep recession - not that Obama cares what Americans want. His Wonderfulness will decide what's best and lately he's very sympathetic to Muslims who hate us. I worry as to why this is so.

This ruling definitely attempts to override the principle of separations of powers. The commander and chief, and his subordinate military officers, surely can move war captives around in the theater of war without checking with some federal judge's ruling back home. I'm sure this ruling can be ignored under direct order of the president with impunity. I expect SCOTUS would support the commander in chief here. The question is does Obama have will to ignore it - not waiting for SCOTUS to overturn this idiocy - or will he have the military always choose to risk error only on the side of captive "rights" opposing the military mission? I beginning to suspect these "civil rights" bleeding heart worriers for the rights of our enemies are really just individuals who despise this country and want it harmed in retribution for its evils past & present as they perceive them.

I would encourage all to demand on comments at Rehab's article that he abandon his extremely lame excuse to avoid a debate with Mr. Spencer. We should not let him get by with this. I have done so under his lame excuse: "To run from a debate from Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch with the excuse that he is just an unworthy "rabble-rouser" is just lame in view of the fact that Mr Robert is a very well known & read author of many books on Islam (some making the NYT best seller list) and has numerous appearances on much watched venues like FOX News and other web sites. In view of his fame (far beyond yours) as a critic of Islam I think it clear that you are obliged (for Islam surely) to debate him and show up his ignorance and deception. Just making ad hominem attacks doesn't cut it. Muslims are not cowards, stop running away." Let's show that Robert Spencer is not some no account "rabble-rouser" he can so easily dismiss.

Sure, that's not the best venue but I'm saying that if the ALA is going to have a conference about Islam it shouldn't be based on the assumption that Islam is good and negative "stereotypes" are to be countered so that only pro-Islamic speakers are invited. I.e, they have no business making that theme as it produces only propaganda with only pro-Islamic speakers. They might, as a theme, ask what stereotypes are wrong and which are justified but that would then make Mr. Spencer a valid contributor. That would much more in keeping with their Mission Statement. Considering how material about Islam in most libraries is probably pro-Islam (compliments of CAIR donations) a honest debate at ALA might not be too bad. I don't think the kind of symposium you described will ever happen (Muslims wouldn't dare). Hence, I'd be happy to see a fair discussion of Islam anywhere.

There must be a get-stupid virus going around - all I seem to read about this ALA nonsense is nonsense. To start, I keep reading this dumb claim that it would be inappropriate for Robert Spenser - a critic of Islam - to be invited or tolerated at this ALA conference because its theme is the dispelling of anti-Islam/Muslim stereotypes. But the underlying presupposition for such a theme is that any negative stereotypes of Islam are wrong and that Islam is just a fine & respectable religion unworthy of the criticisms or stereotypes that the likes of Mr Spencer might invoke. This is hardly self evident in view of the warlike texts of the Koran & the warlike behavior of the terrorists who use them, and hence the reputedly open minded ALA clearly has no cause to make this presupposition - nor this theme. It would be appropriate for the ALA to have a debate on whether or not in fact many negative stereotypes of Islam can be reasonably justified, in which case Robert Spenser's presence would be very appropriate along with those who might dare to dispute with him. Then there is the stupid AIM article who logic is that Robert Spencer is an unqualified Islamophobic Islam basher ignorant of all kinds of mitigating scholarly Islamic interpretations because there are Muslims who say so - no further argument necessary. Then there is the nonsense & calumny that Robert Spencer is no scholar, no matter how long he has studied Islam or how many well known publications he has on the subject because he doesn't have an advanced degree from some Islamic university department. This is as bad a discrediting Bill Gates as a businessman because he didn't even graduate - much less attain an MBA - so who should listen to anything Bill Gates has to say?
