It is proven just about everyday through the list of folks arrested. For those that us that actually have something, it would be a huge risk to share our true feelings on this site. I do feel that KCRG censors what is said in these forums already, and they feel that by doing it through facebook that it will self censor. KCRG will be successful in shutting down these forums. With this, many of the real challenges in the community will never come out. I have already dropped our Gazette subscription, and watch the other news as much as I watch KCRG. This may just be the nail in the coffin. Since most counties in Iowa added the 1%, the 1% was just added to the sales tax to make it 6% and the local tax was dropped. Sounds simple, right? The reason that they added it to the state sales tax is that by law, there can only be one option tax at any given time. I can see in just a few years, this 1% option tax going into the state sales tax (making it 8%), and then another group wanting to fund something by a new 1% option tax. I can see the writing on the wall. I do not like it at all. I am not sure what would happen then. I do believe that anybody requiring a "free" lawyer, should pay back the state by doing work for the state. That may entail all kinds of different work. I do not look at this as punishment at all, just paying for what you get. If I get in trouble and pay a lawyer, I have to work to generate income to pay them.
