So I found out today about the whole Gawker commenting shakeup.

And on that topic, is anyone else mystified by Denton's decisions in recent years?

Two come to mind,
Let's make an HD versions of Gawker blogs
For the 5% of people with large enough monitors to support huge resolutions? Larger pictures, to chew up even more bandwidth?

Let's make Gawker like television [remember the video autoplay immediately after the redesign?]

Surely I've missed a few wtf moves on Denton's part.

Oh Denton,
You really want to be like Sergey Brin, or Mark Zuckerberg, don't you?

Of course, Brin was a brilliant computer science Ph.D. student and Zuckerberg was writing code when he was in middle school.
