JD I think I went hoarse arguing the merits of the last few episodes with my friends last night after the finale. I am not sure they all appreciate the subtle nuances and the great writing this show really has. You are absolutely right about the ROBARN scene, it was great, I don't know another sitcom pair that could have pulled that off. This episode shows why this show stands out as the best of its kind. And B to the W, Ted dates one of his students? For a guy without a masters degree to be a prof is impressive enough, but he's going to be breaking some ethical boundaries on that one. I wonder if that will be woven into the show somehow.

I LOVED this episode. The Murtaugh list reminded me of arguments that I've had with my friends now that we're all 25, (including whether it's okay to date a girl who's freshly 19, our drinking age). The Marshall coaching gig was also great because I'm a sports coach myself and I saw so many stereotypes in his performance. It was great. While "Front Porch" was great, I liked this episode best!

I agree. Even with Marshall's pants story, Ted was not involved. The whole "Ted working at GNB" angle was completely wasted. Oh well, I thought the episode overall was pretty good, although let me tell ya, some of those Canada jokes aren't far off ;)

If you rewatch the episode in the beginning "Marshall and Lily hate Karen" montage you see Marshall lying on the bed eating a bowl of fruit... I am willing to bet that's where the reference came from. I thought it was clever when I re-watched it

I thought the episode was pretty good. More of one of those flashback episodes, like pineapple incident or how i met everyone else. I thought it was pretty solid, with more of those older references that reward faithful fans. I DON'T think that waiter was Scooter but haven't had a chance to re-watch. My friends argued with me that he was, so we will have to se.

I felt like this episode was an average episode. Nothing particularly enjoyable, but nothing bad either. The "reading a magazine" thing was funny, but not ground-shaking. The references to earlier episodes were good, such as "Private Thing" and "Madeline." This episode was ruined for me with the return of whinny, pathetic Barney. As much as I hate to compare Barney to Joey from Friends (lets face it it's a valid comparison) they almost crushed his character when he went all gaga over Rachel, and I don't want the same thing to happen to Barney. Barney just isn't Barney when he's dealing with all this Robin stuff, and well I think some people would like to see them together, I don't think it would work for the show.

It's been previously established that Robin is from Vancouver. Yes, as a Canadian I also realize most of this is gross generalization. However I give it up in the name of comedy and allow the farces to function (for the most part). However as a southern Ontario guy who spent his share on winters in Thunder Bay, ON (very close to Minnesota) I also get what they're talking about. Let's just leave it at funny... if I really wanted to nitpick I'd go back to the "Mount Waddington" line from season 3
