Do I think that many people donated that much? Heck no! But there was a local man with SEVEN kids that emptied his bank account of 50K to fight the "evil homos" Ignoring the fact the having seven kids is incredibly irresponsible in this already overpopulated planet, throwing away your ability to support them is pathetic.

Nasty words yes but thats not violence. As far as vandalism it wouldnt suprise me to find out Mormons were vandalizing their own churches and blaming it on gay people. Kind of like that McCain voter who carved a B on her cheek and claimed it was a big scary black man.

For what it is worth there were LDS friends at my Gay wedding. They had to be there in secret or have the Ward all over their butts! I love my Mormon friends but I also support the protests against the church. Mormons represent 4% of the California population but somehow magically provided 70% of the money. How stupid does one have to be to believe the whole thing wasnt directed by Salt Lake. That people just spontaneously donated their life savings with no pressure. If you live around LDS you know for a fact it doesnt work that way.

There has been precisely ONE act of vandalism against LDS, a sign was spraypainted. No on 8 condemned this. Today a pro-gay synagogue was vandalized by the anti-gay folks. We havent heard a word of condemnation from Yes on 8. These have been peaceful protests. To call them terrorize or imply mass vandalism is simply not true.

That is exactly what is happening. But people are angry (you would be to if I took away your marriage) and so of course they are venting. Ultimately it is back to the ballot box with this issue, and the fact it only lost by four points pretty much guarantees it will pass eventually. Then I, of course, expect all the righteous folks here to hail democracy and "just get over themselves:" and accept that the voters decided FOR Gay Marriage. Right?

Somewhere in this thread someone claimed that no religion recognized same sex marriage. Totally false. Even if we skip over welcoming Methodist and Presbyterian congregations there are still the Quakers who have been performing same sex unions for 40 years and the Episcopalians which fully recognize same sex relationships. Both of these are churches with a long history in the US. In fact the Quakers have been here since roughly the time of the Pilgrims. Which raises an intersesting question...if marriage is a religious freedom issue as so many here complain...doesnt it discriminate AGAINST religion when these faiths are not able to marry same sex couples?
