I'm sure these things have been said already, but I want to add my voice. The difference between this and previous Gawker redesigns is that this one is actually, truly harder to use and doesn't work as well.

Having the fixed headline list at the right side of the layout is a deal killer, because not all browsers deal with fixed content well. I'm using the current version of Firefox, very mainstream, but on 5 of my 6 computers, both the main content and the headline list scroll too slowly to be usable. Have your developers tested this at all on slightly older, slower machines?

I was a starred commenter on io9 and an avid reader of Gizmodo and Jalopnik. I like the content and the writers, but I have not been back since the change, except to see if anything has improved. It's a chore and painful to try to use, and I'm not a masochist.

Edit...Holy cow! I just disabled "Use smooth scrolling" in Firefox, and it speeds up the Gawker sites about 10x! I still think it's a really poor design, but it's at least not as painful to use this way. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

Hi! I just found this place, and I thought I'd check it out. Have to have something to do now that I'm not wasting all my time on the Gawker sites. I was starred on io9, and also an avid reader of Gizmodo and Jalopnik, but the new "design" is just absolutely painful to use. So much so that I'm not using it. I'll keep checking back once in a while to see if it ever becomes usable again.
