you're paying historically low taxes, and your draft card anaolgy is weak. you had no choice to be born a male and thus draftable, whereas a criminal had a choice in selling drugs or burglarizing a home or whatever they did.

You're missing the point entirely. There is a long standing concept in American law that states that there is no privacy in public places, and you should be under no illusion of privacy. Police could very legally follow you around all day watching what you do in public, however if they wanted to see into your home further than they could see through an open window, they'd need the courts decision. This applies to camera as well; it's perfectly fine to establish cameras in public places for law enforcement since there is no privacy or concept of privacy in those situations. Behave as if you are always being watched,

GazetteOnline.com : 21-only could have negative consequences

The letter makes perfect sense, under the assumption that the writer is correct and the underage drinking in Iowa City bars was "minimal". Anyone who has been there, or even simply read the arrest blotter for Iowa City, know this is not the case. The vast majority of problems in the pedmall area (fighting, public drunkenness, injuries from falls...) comes from the under-aged crowd. Personally I think the bars should be punished more than the kids trying to drink there, but that's a different conversation.

When the owner of a vehicle would be committing a crime by driving it, or say the owner has a warrant, that's reason enough to get stopped. If your buddy has a murder warrant and you're driving his car, prepare to have several unpleasant stops.... Gotta choose the company you run with.

Are you comparing someone going to a park and firing shots at someone to someone parking in an expectant mother space? There is no comparison. The expectant mother space means literally nothing, there is no legal force behind like handicapped spaces, it may as well be a spot reserved for people having a bad hair day.

GazetteOnline.com : Listen to will of all, not 7 on the court

Churches are not being forced to marry same-sex couples, so really, this comes down to the state issuing a license. If we allow people to vote on whether or not homosexuals have the right to a wedding license, then we must also allow people to vote on homosexuals' ability to get a drivers license, fishing licensing, medical license, or a license to sell alcohol. Only then will the will of the majority be allowed to fully shine, in all it's democratic glory. Sorry, but there is a reason that we have a Supreme Court, both locally and nationally, and that's because the majority is frequently wrong and unjust/immoral, as in this case.

seriously, street storage is your main concern? why don't you listen to the radio traffic sometime, free on Scan America, and see how busy the officers are. police don't do a thing about street storage until someone calls in about it (i learned that the hard way) and then it's up to an officer to check it when they have time between calls, which according to an officer i talked to they usually spend checking on all the warrants the court is pumping out. i was annoyed, but realize that there is no limit of things officers could be doing more important than street storage, as annoying as it is. also, the car in front of my place was there for about 5 weeks, but it did finally get towed
