Big Government : Occupy Wall Street Stealing From The Poor to Give to Themselves!

Heh, heh... I doubt the Occupy movement will be trying this in Wisconsin. We just passed the "castle doctrine". (Then again, I'm not sure how the Castle Doctrine covers homes in foreclosure.)

From not-so-famous basketballer Stacey King, who scored one point in a game, while his teammate, Michael Jordan, scored 69 points: "I'll always remember this as the night that Michael Jordan and I combined for 70 points."

Big Government : CBC Conference Attendees Say Tea Party Is Racist

Interesting... Herman Cain has taken an (apparent) lead in the GOP primary field. I wonder how many GOPers (myself included) might give Mr. Cain more attention and support simply because we have to combat idiots like we see in this video. The subconscious would think, "Hey, if we elect a black GOP president, surely these haters will drop the 'racism' charge." Of course, we all know that they will NEVER drop the 'racism' charge, because that is all they have. That is all they can offer. They can't look me in the eye, get to know me, an assess me for who I am. They can only hold up the palm of their hand, avert their eyes, and start muttering their groundless charge (before any Truth can penetrate and reveal their own hate for what it is). Grrr...

Big Government : Radical Organization Led by Union Boss Invades Capitol Hill Office Building

Very interesting... Here in Madison, WI, we are now contemplating firing our capitol police chief, for dereliction of duty. He blatantly failed to maintain order. He pacified the protestors, and virtually assured them they would NOT be arrested. That, of course, allowed the deviant behavior to escalate. Now, the behavior has attained new, heretofore unimaginable levels of disorderly. Politicians are having their homes picketed. One politician was followed into a bank with a guy blaring an air-horn in his ear. Just last week, a well-known, easily-recognizable, always-present protester dumped beer on an "opposition" politician. It's just a matter of time, until someone blows that air-horn in MY ear, and I whirl around and bust out his front teeth. Just a matter of time... You guys better nip this in the bud, before you see the advent of the career protester.

Big Government : Connecticut Governor: Now That We've Changed the Rules, We're the Example for 'Respectful' Relations

So, Conn achieved a settlement that left collective bargaining (CB) in place for public-sector employees. Good luck with that. As a resident of Wisconsin, we faced that conundrum: Leave the CB in place, or wipe it off the table, remove it from the battle field. Gov Walker chose the latter. If Conn opts to leave CB in place, what do you think is going to happen five years from now? This governor will be gone; no one in the state government will have the cajones to stand up to the unions; and the unions will demand a return to their current standards... They'll cry about how they've made sacrifices, they took a pay-freeze, now it's time for the Conn tax-payer to return the love. I'll bet all my baseball cards (except for my Johnny Bench rookie).

Big Journalism : Citizen Journalist Assaulted by Wisconsin Union Supporters?

Well, as a Wisconsin resident, I am so very, very sorry to report that these Lefties are gonna have to keep the flame lit and well-fanned between now and next January... when they will be able to attempt the gran mal coup d'etat in recalling Gov. Walker. Of course, to anyone with two braincells, it looks like the New Revolution is sorta petering out... losing steam. So, to keep ANY hope alive of actually stemming this ill tide, it'll be five more months of all manner of gatherings and revivals and conventions and marches and demonstrations and special events... just to keep the ever-dwindling grassroots worked up into some kind of tizzy. Their very lives (i.e. livelihoods) depend on it. I hope I don't go nuts between now and then. Keep letting people know about this on-going fight.

Big Government : Shame! AFSCME Protesters Target Company that Hires the Developmentally Disabled

That's funny, bashley, because I think they're all pretty familiar, too. I live here in Madison, WI, and dang... it seems like EVERYone looks like a protestor. Weird. But, yeah... the middle-aged, overweight person, (probably a state employee) who doesn't look like s/he EVER smiles, unless someone just told an anti-Walker joke. ... or the too-young-to-know-better Bahamian, in dreadlocks and Birkenstocks, with more hair than seems necessary (male or female) who seems more than a little reticent in the whole personal-hygiene department, and whose talk is over-punctuated with the word "like". ... other groups that merit mention. But, as I type my paragraph about them, I get nervous thinking, "Dang, this might could actually be traced back to me. And, the press would have a field day with my flippant talk." So, I shall refrain. Anyway... there's only a couple categories, and, yeah, they all look familiar.

Hey, Gang... I'm looking for info on Opportunities, Inc. I'm engaged in a FB "discussion" with a Liberal. She parroting the "sweat shop" allegations. Has anyone seen any reporting on this stuff, yet? What's a good pay-rate in this industry? Can a non-profit make $2.9M in profits? (That's the number this Lib-friend is slinging around.) And, is that a necessarily BAD profit? Any input would be appreciated.
Big Government : Labor-Management Dynamic Shifts in Wisconsin Schools, Taxpayers Reap Rewards

No biggie... I just checked, and what you might have heard about were the primaries. The Reps had tried to run some fake-Dems to split some interest in the Dem primaries. (I did not like that plan, but it has become the norm, sadly.) Those fake-Dems did lose; the incumbent Dems in each seat won the primaries. So, on to August for the actual votes.

I, too, am a state employee. Every state employee (well, except for some of those part-timer types) gets a salary of X. Then, the state is obligated to contribute 10% of X into a retirement account. Not only does that cost a lot of money to the state up front for every employee... it also screws up the numbers so comparisons are difficult. The state employee can say things like, "I could be making so much more in the private sector." :) Well... maybe some could. But, if you roll in that 10% investment policy, that certainly changes the numbers. Second, it's the TYPE of investment that gets me. This is a "guaranteed benefit" retirement policy; not a "guarantee contribution". If it were just a guaranteed contribution, then the state would put in 10%, and they'd be done with the obligation. But, no. This is a guarantee benefit, which means the state employee is... well... guaranteed a specific amount of pay out every year of his/her retirement for the rest of your life. It's not the equivalent of a 401K. It's an annuity type policy. A favorite recent story... An employee for Milwaukee County retired after 30 years of service. The man will now earn $54K every year, for the rest of his life. And, get this, the man is only 56 years old. He could EASILY live for another 30 years. And, we, (the Wisconsin tax payer) are on the hook for his $54K/yr payout. UN-freakin'-BELIEVABLE!!!! I am still trying to find someone who can produce for me a present-day value of that kind of retirement annuity. How can you possibly calculate the value of that. And, when it is considered in that light, can anyone really say, "I could make so much more in the private sector."??? I don't think so!

Well now, hold your horses, FlexoRick. No one has been actually recalled, yet. I'm here in the belly of the beast (Madison, that is). And, we are only so far as having completed the recall petitions. That is... the Left has only been successful at rallying their base enough to get the sufficient number of signature in various districts to require a recall election. Six Republicans state senators have pending recall elections awaiting them in the next few weeks. Those elections are yet to be held. An honest assessment is that two of those six Senators are considered "at risk" (based on demographics of their districts). Currently, the Right/Republican majority enjoys a five seat lead. But, on the up-side, the Right has successfully requested recalls elections for three of the Democrat state senators (two of the fourteen who ran away across Illinois statelines back in Jan). Again, an honest assessment suggests the Dems may lose one of those. So, time will tell. Certainly, the Left is highly motivated, and feeling VERY confident about their chances. But, gathering signatures, from your own voters, at the height of the protesting fury is one thing. Actually delivering a 50+ % of the vote (after a few months of cooling off... and after a few headlines that are beginning to show the real net-benefit of this budget reform bill) will be quite another. If you feel like spending some money, donate to the Wisconsin GOP. The Lord knows that the national unions are attacking with LOTS of money ($2M so far). Stay tuned. Elections on Aug 9 & August 16.
