If and when they leave Europe many or most will chose to go somewhere other than Israel. The US is filled with Jews from Argentina, Russia, South Africa, Venezuela, etc. I don't think that secular, left leaning Jews in France will find Israel very appealing. If forced to leave and given a choice, they will go elsewhere. How many non Orthodox European Jews make aliyah in a given year? Don't start expanding the immigrant absorption centers just yet.

My low rating here is in large part due to my having objected to a Commentary article that referred to Turkey as an enemy. Now that Turkey is facing the same threat that Israel faces from an unstable Syria, Commentary has generously allowed that Turkey is actually an ally. It's really that simple.

The enemy! Really! Anything that does not agree with you is 'stupid, self serving, bigoted, fictitious and ludicrous'? Did you run out of adjectives? You should move to another country if you consider Democrats the enemy. You probably think of yourself as a patriot when in fact people like you, people who think that to disagree is to be an enemy, are ruining our country.

There is too much in the responses to what I posted for me to respond to, I have other things to do. I would just like to point out that I DID hold Obama and his administration responsible for what happened it Benghazi in my response. That is what I meant by preventable. I thought that was clear. I still think it's clear. I am also baffled at being accused of being a liberal or a leftist for pointing out that the obvious hypocrisy of making a partisan issue of what happened in Benghazi when equally bad or worse mistakes and failures to take action occurred during the previous administration. Bush essentially ignored reports warning about AQ planning a major attack on the USA that were on his desk from his first days in office. The democrats did not blame him personally for the tragedy that followed. The general public, that is people who are less partisan than the people who post here, understands that in this dangerous world not every attack will be prevented. __I don't know where RAS743 got his information that Obama was playing on his Blackberry while the Benghazi attack happened but I do remember watching G W Bush continue on reading a story to school children when informed about the 9/11 attacks.

What an odd choice for comparison. The Plame affair involved intelligence refuting the Bush administration's claim that Iraq was developing nuclear weapons, trumped up and false intelligence that was used to justify a war that cost thousands of American lives and a trillion dollars. Unfortunately, regrettably and yes, preventably, four patriots died in Benghazi. Nearly 100 times that many gave their lives in Iraq. Given that kind of death ratio I'd say that the amount of media coverage (and congressional attention) given to Benghazi is excessive.

This is the second time that you have called me a liar, this time an outrageous liar, without pointing out a lie. Everyone can reads these posts. You are beginning to look foolish.

Your disgusting language, your racism and your ad homenim attack are all signs of a person who is unable to think or argue rationally. Do you think that addressing me as Mahmud and Achmed make you look clever? Do you think calling me an asshole(!) is some sort of exchange of ideas? Do you think that calling me liar without in any way showing a lie is argument? You are truly vile and though I hate to go here, you are also clearly stupid.

I was not aware that Turkey is an enemy of the United States. The last time I checked they were an ally and a member of NATO. Just because Turkey aided a group that attempted to feed and provide medicine to Gaza does not make them an enemy of America.
As for Egypt, also not an enemy of the United States, they have been getting US assistance in exchange for the peace treaty with Israel since Begin and Sadat met at Camp David. The money to Egypt is ransom paid by US taxpayers to ensure that Israel can continue settling the West Bank without having to worry about an attack on that front. I would have thought that the writers at Commentary would appreciate that.
