Exactly, my grandma who passed away in 2001 was the same way, canned food under the house left over from the 60's, boxes of misc things up in the attic; it took long time to clear out her place. I too was surprised that whatever services that are helping her out, should have made her home that she had to depart from safer obviously she couldn’t do that herself physically or mentally, and a lot of those valuable memories to her, and maybe even some family members might not have perished in something that could have been prevented.

I totally agree with everyone on here that it starts with the drivers and pedestrians and each has a responsibility factor in it. I have seen a few of those crosswalks that have the in ground flashing lights and they do work very well in alerting someone that a person is crossing the road as most people look forward not off to the side. Often you see those flashing lights that are off to the side on a post blinking away and there isn’t a sole around or it’s just a warning sign that there could be pedestrians or a curve coming up ahead. I have even seen in residential areas, obviously not as busy as this area is, but they installed bigger than normal speed bumps to slow cars down going through an area where there is a lot of kids at play. I wish that mom and her kids all the best as I know that it bites to be a kid and be laid up for the summer with injuries.

When someone is truly sorry for their actions, they generally will turn themselves in and deal with whatever punishment is given and feel remorseful for their actions. She isn’t sorry for one thing other than being caught with her hands in the cookie car and now has to deal with the consequences of her actions, so now it’s boo hoo I am so sorry I was greedy and I have kids give me a slap on the wrist Mr. Judge. Give her the 10 years that some of her clients are asking that she gets, they deserve that much. Your kids must be very proud of you mom as you probably didn't think about them either while you were stealing and spending the money your clients worked hard to get.

Thanks for shedding more light on it. Just looked it up, didn't realize they were based in Sweden and was created by people from other counties along with folks from the U.S. That makes things a little harder to do. Looks like the AP news would have added that information in there.

I would think freedom of press/speech or not, that if it endangered the lives of a lot or some of our U.S military service members and or government employees that a judge could issue a warrant to shut it down and confiscate all equipment and put a gag order on everyone working there. This kind of in some way reminds me of that church that was protesting at the service man’s funerals.

Sorry to say, just about every game, sport and competition has rules and contracts to sign. I guess it’s just the American way of doing it (C.Y.A) and if you want to compete for the big bucks, then you have to agree and sign the contract other wise don’t complain. I am sure that Nathan’s has strict guidelines in place with their contracts, so that eaters don’t go participating at somebody else’s hot dog eating contest as it takes away from the Nathan's hot dog eating contest, their product, their name and the advertising as you really become a representative of Nathans.

Not sure what punishment they issue for treason now a days; probably just jail time and not the punishable by death sentence they use to have.
