If you are worried about property values and paint colors than move to a subdivision w/ an association. The property owner should be able to paint the house whatever color he/she chooses. What will people think of to complain about next.

It appears there is more to this story than just 7 cents. They have been behind/deliquent since 1997!!! How many years should a lending institution have to deal with this! It is a sad story and my heart goes out to the family. BUT they were behind off and on for quite some time, before any tragedies.

You could also choose to go to a nonsmoking place! ( No one is saying that your nonsmoking self has to enter that bar.) As the smoker could choose to go to a place that allows it.

If you don't like smoke in a bar, stay out of that bar. No one told you to go in in the first place. That is your right as a patron. The owners of those business should be able to decide smoking or not. Why can't 21 and up smoke in a bar w/ no children but children who can not roll down a car window must sit and inhale their parents second hand smoke? Sounds like government should keep their nose out of the business and focus more on child welfare!

Unfortunately this woman is to blame in part. The women of abuse become as sick as the abuser. It's the same story as an alcholic and enabler. It's a terrible cycle. Takes on average 7 times of leaving the abuser before it sticks. In the mean time the children suffer. How can anyone not find that selfish on the part of the parent/mother?

Yes he will. He is a repeat offender and still had a long sentence that he was paroled on. They will tack that old sentence( approximately 10 years left to serve on), with repeat offender time (which can be an additional 20 years by itself), 2nd degree time, and larceny and make it consecutive not concurrent.

Prosecutor did the right thing in this case by saving the taxes payers the cost of a trial. Mr. DePoy has en extensive criminal background/record. Any offense he committed was going to put him in jail for most of his life. With a plea of 2nd murder, it is a definite he won't get out in his lifetime. Thank you to the D.A's office for saving some of my bucks and getting the same end result that a trial would have!!!!!

don't want to turn the victim into a criminal here, but why aren't passengers expected to us good judgement and not get into a car w/ someone who has been drinking. Don't we preach that to our teenage children all the time. As adult passengers why aren't we a little bit responsible for getting in the car w/ someone who is drunk?

hairgirl, sorry that was your experience. Next time if you show up w/ exactly what the state employee wrote down and they turn you down then take it up w/ the manager. The manager does have quite a bit of discretion that the public is not aware of, especially if he/she sees it was a state employees oversite. If the manager says no tell them to call Lansing. Lansing will usually get it done if the manager will not. As far as the phone, I have always been able to reach a live person, Niles must be a different system

In defense of the state, the days they were/are to be closed has been posted. Mrs. Morris can and should call the office before she goes in to find out exactly what was needed. Remember you are dealing with government and there are laws and codes to go by. If she had to make more than one trip she should have had an employee write down exactly what she needed w/ that employees name on. Then if there were issues the manager could have addressed. Please, public don't get frustrated because we need to make budget cuts, you didn't pay attention, or inform yourself as well as you should!!!!
