West Ham Till I Die : One for the Finns (And I Don't Mean Neil)

Strange how views differ then. Richard Horner, ex Chelsea youth coach and now a regional development coach for the FA, had the view that he was never going to be a Premiership player. He thought that he was great when he was able to run at people, but in a confined space, such as a Premiership penalty box, he lacked a first touch and the ability to beat a player. Time will tell.

West Ham Till I Die : Match Thread: Sunderland v West Ham

We are allowed 2 UK based loan players. TBH was the first and Caicedo was to be the second but he went to Spain on deadline day after a loan was agreed. The window then shut.

I know there's no width - the fullbacks are there to give it, hence the caveat that they should be the quickest players and not necessarily the best. Football isn't just about when you've got the ball - it's how you play without it that matters.

I'm Italian. I like it when Capello insists on picking Heskey/Cole for England because neither of them score for their country. As long as Carlton scores for West Ham I'm happy. What he does or doesn't do for England? Couldn't care less.

By that logic neither Cole or Heskey should be anywhere near the England squad and Defoe should start with Rooney.

West Ham Till I Die : Sullivan: I Did It My Way

Spending £50 million with his mate gives him the right to moan about his under performing product. Having said that, his interview reads like certain posters in here self praising "I've been saying for months...." is the usual favourite

West Ham Till I Die : Results: Player Performances v Burnley

Am I alone in thinking that these player polls are a totally pointless exercise? I wonder if people voting actually watch the game or just go shopping with the wife, because every game the result of the poll doesn't seem to bear any relation to the game played.

West Ham Till I Die : You Never Know What You Have Till It's Gone!

It's the managers job to protect his overpaid, highly pampered under performing squad from criticism. If he is unable or unwilling to do that then he needs to look at his own position. A metaphorical kick up the arse doesn't do anyone any harm. Proposed pay cuts and the like aren't coming in overnight. A manager can only pick a team, send them out and hope that what he's told them is enough. Now is the time for the team to say "stuff the new bloke. We're supporting our manager by giving our all and getting 3 points. We don't want the pay cut that comes with relegation"

Some of the worst offenders with regards to slagging off are those that have been here the longest, and the clique defending them gets bigger by the day. I find it more insulting to read a post by someone saying "the new posters need educating" than a post calling someone a mug. I'm not sure some posters realise how arrogant they sound. I'm not one given to name calling myself - I find it unnecessary, but I appreciate right to an opinion. I don't agree with most of the stuff posted on here, but instead of getting embroiled in a row I choose to ignore certain posters. It wouldn't be a bad thing for more to do the same occasionally.

West Ham Till I Die : Zipping It

This is what I posted as a reply on the previous thread. I don't subscribe to the view that comments made "on the eve of a big match" are damaging. It's only a big match because Zola has made it a big match with his inept team selection/tactics/motivational techniques in the last 20 games. I can't see Ferguson letting anything the Glazers do or say bother him. He would be protecting his squad, not bleating to SSN and getting his excuses in first. "We lost but it was the Chairman's fault with what he said yesterday. I was unable to motivate the players enough" is not a line that any manager worth his salt would be trotting out. Zola might not say it either but I imagine that he would imply it. Why talk to the media anyway?

I take your point above that there is a time and a place, but my point is Gold and Sullivan bought the right to make that time now. Not next week, next month but now.
I like people who speak both their mind and the truth. For too long we've had players drawing a wage without earning it - and I don't mean those on 80 grand a week and injured. I mean those who put a shirt on every week and go through the motions. I'm out on a limb here, but I stand right behind the Chairman. He's invested a few quid in the club and in my book that entitles him to say exactly what he wants. Some might see it as crass and irresponsible at this stage of the season with a big game tomorrow, but when is he supposed to make everybody aware of his views? He's made a statement that the majority wouldn't appear to agree with but he'll never be accused of not letting people know what his plans are. Now, if I was an employee with a new boss who came in and said "perform better or you're down the road" I think I'd strive to work a bit harder and give him what he wanted. I can't see this being any different.

West Ham Till I Die : Greaves on Moore and Captaincy

The idea of a blog is for one person to state an opinion and then for others to agree/disagree as they see fit. Blog posts are intended to be thought provoking, and in order to fulfil that then posts have to sometimes be "top-loaded" in order to elicit a reasoned response. I read the deleted reply and my take on it was that it was puerile sarcasm not moronic abuse, but doesn't detract from the fact that it was pointless. However to reiterate - blogs need topics like this to generate debate. What sets this blog apart is that it is about the only one that doesn't tolerate swearing - most of them positively encourage it.

Because I don't rate a particular player that you do that makes me a "smart Alec"? Ask yourself one question - why has nobody, and I mean nobody not been in for him yet? Suppose that makes a lot of Premiership and Championship managers wrong as well. Nice to know I'm in good company.
