I find it even funnier that our Loras was using cologne for months that he didn't realize was actually ladies perfume.

You know, especially when you consider all of the Sharpe films, he still survives in the vast majority of his movies. But I guess he's had some particularly memorable screen deaths in especially well known films, hence the reputation.

No, not really. The casting directors and their people don't have the time to bother with watching 1000 random videos. Step 1: Casting Directors call you in either based solely on your head shot/bio or if your agent has a good relationship with them they might do it based just on that, or if they've seen you in the past and think you might have potential for the part. Step 2: they have you read and put your reading on video. If they like your reading, they send your video either to the main casting agent or to the producers/director/etc. Since casting for this show has been a global search, and time is of the essence, videos now get posted to sites on the internet rather than being physically sent via FedEx, like you had to do when I was still in the business. In some cases, the casting directors might be asking the actors' agents to send in their own video readings for actors they want to see for various reasons of convenience (i.e., the actor is in Los Angeles and Nina Gold is in London probably the most common reason). This is really less ideal for the actors as they can't interact directly with the main casting people, maybe get a few suggestions and do second or third readings based on that, but still it's better than not being seen at all. We know some actors' videos were being posted by their own agents (I remember one or two were on the personal account of an agency assistant at William Morris/Endeavor). But I am quite certain that the reason these actors were even getting the chance to have their video seen was because they were requested by the casting directors, or their agents worked their relationships and "got them in the room," even if only virtually.

Eva Green is playing Morgana in Starz's rival show about King Arthur. I'm actually quite surprised she's even doing TV, but there it is. If she were going to do Games it would have had to have been in one of the lead roles - a Cersei-sized role (though she's too young still, even though she can play older due to her bearing, I think).

Winter Is Coming : Thrones cast heads to Belfast

There was a group that found the Westeros boards that do full-contact jousting, like at Ren Fairs and such. They wanted to get in touch with the producers of the show and were hoping we could help - they wanted to be involved. They posted links to some of their shows and it was really impressive stuff. Full-on jousting, no-holds-barred. Looked terribly dangerous. I wonder if those guys ever got in touch with Dan & Dave or if they were eventually hired. I can't even find their topic about it anymore and have heard nothing since.

I would beg to disagree, Dance is VERY imposing [fairly spoilerly clip from "Bleak House," Dance plays Tulkinghorn]: http://www.tubechop.com/watch/80048 (The clip also makes me wish, once again, that Gillian Anderson was cast as Catelyn...oh well.)

With the show being shot in NI and Malta and no other locations named, I really have got to wonder how they are going to depict the Dothraki Sea. Maybe there is still a location that hasn't been mentioned? I don't know, it's strange. I would have thought the Ukraine or Russia would have been ideal, and inexpensive, too and there are a lot of good Eastern European film crews now who could easily handle a production like this.

What I love about that score is that, even though it utilizes classical instruments, it doesn't sound like a typically "classical" score to me. He went very heavy on the brass and drums which gave it a very old and "barbaric" sound. The opening, plus the visual in the movie of the molten steel being poured into the sword mold, slashing the black screen with an orange glow is an amazing cinematic moment and encapsulates in a single shot the whole feeling and theme of that film. I can never get enough of that shot.

Talk with them about their ideas and concepts for the score. They might even have come in with some preliminary work, if they got inspired or they might bring in some examples of the sort of music they are thinking about drawing from. The producers might even have their own ideas and want to bounce them off potential composers and see whose ideas they gel with, or who might present to them better, more inspired ideas about the tone and sound of the score and main theme.

A composer doesn't preclude medieval style music...someone's still got to write the damn stuff. Somebody had to write the opening theme for Rome, which I believe was meant to portray (at least somewhat) what Roman era music might have sounded like.

Let's not forget all the issues some have had with Lena Heady just because she has naturally black hair and not blond. The silliest of issues (wigs, dye), but for some they couldn't get past it and continually argued why it made her completely "wrong" for the part.

He was supposed to be even more minor, but GRRM enjoyed writing him and kept finding things for him to do in the story, and so his role got extended far beyond where it was originally supposed to end. I really like the continuing story as it gets told to us in AFFC, even though we don't see it, how he rises to become a not insignificant Lord.
