They are simply waiting for the market to make some gains and then the bankruptcy will be announced. This way the hit to the market will not appear so severe. Have you noticed everything is being reported as % losses or gains in the market. So you balance this by controlling the announcement of bad news. The gov't controls GM, so they control the filing of bankruptcy and thus the bad news. Let wait until we have a 300 point gain in the market and announce the bankruptcy the following day or late Friday evening and give the public the weekend to forget. Sort of like the latest bank failure announcement last night.
