Wow, talk about a '90s throwback! Anyway, the reason I didn't click your lame link is because -- well, it's bound to be lame. You Paulies are all the same, drones of the same mold. Nothing different, spouting the same crap over and over, shouting louder and louder hoping someone will take you seriously, but to no avail. Nobody likes you guys and the more inflammatory you are the more turned off by Ron Paul people become. Simple as that.

There was no open thread for THAT because it is well known that Paul supporters flood open straw polls. The straw polls in California and Iowa were wide open. People could load up on buses from all around the country and vote. Candidates spent a lot of money chartering such buses. On the other hand, Florida's Presidency 5 was open only to delegates selected from the ranks of the Florida Republican Party (the only people who are eligible to vote in GOP primaries), making it much more difficult to buy votes and more difficult to skew. Thus, much more representative. That, coupled with the historical precedence of this poll determining the eventual nominee (though certainly not binding) made this particular straw poll a much, much bigger deal than a few dozen folks in southern California.

No, "printing money" is a term used to describe an expansion of the money supply. Printing money is monetary inflation in the Austrian school, but it doesn't always carry over into price inflation unless there is a commensurate increase in money velocity within the economy. Invariably, it usually does. But that's not the point here. Can you find me any evidence -- any whatsoever, that Herman Cain had anything to do with monetary policy decisions at the Federal Reserve Bank? I'd love to see your sources.

Okay, I'll go ahead and say it... I was on this very site about a year and a half ago promoting Herman Cain. I was made fun of and even accused of being like an Obama supporter, or that I was looking for the nearest black guy to run against Obama. Boy, it feels great to be ahead of one's time! :) #justsayin

"will allow us to avoid default and end the crisis that Washington imposed on the rest of America," the president said in an announcement at the White House.
Big Government : Connecticut Governor: Pass State Budget Without Union Concessions

I grew up in Connecticut. I've seen it go down hill, partly thanks to illegal immigrants, but also the tax and spend policies coming out of the one-party town of Hartford. I joined the military in 2002, but kept my Connecticut residency because I had planned to return when I got out. Not any longer. My most recent assignment brought me to Florida -- no income tax! I changed my residency almost immediately! Bye bye, Con-artist Connecticut! This is what democracy looks like! Voting with your feet!

Some companies go out of business all the time. To leave out the word "some" is dishonest, but to qualify the statement with that word invalidates your entire premise. If all companies just went out of business one day, we'd have bigger problems to worry about. By the way, Fredric Bastiat had a very wise essay on tariffs, I suggest looking it up.

No, we can't. The regime has just come out and said that there's enough in Social Security to last through, I believe, 2037. Even though the so-called trust fund is empty and is now taking in less through payroll taxes than it's paying out in benefits. What a farce. For all the liberal talk about how investing in the stock market would cause people to lose their shirts, the stock market will never be zero because those companies will always have some sort of value. Social Security is literally gone.

Big Government : Mitch Daniels Responds to Critics Over Social Issues 'Truce' and Defense Cuts

Yes, and he could have played up his strengths without dissing the whole entire values crowd. I lean libertarian, so some of the "values" issues don't bother me as much, but that's not the point. I'm also pro-life, not because it's a "values" thing or a "religious" thing but quite literally a matter of life and death. Daniels doesn't really think it's all that important to save as many of these children as possible, even though Gallup polling shows that there are more Americans that are pro-life than pro-choice and that the trend is growing (and that "under 25" year olds are now more pro-life than any group except senior citizens). Besides that, the guy's plain boring. You're right, he inspires nothing except who I'd like to see beat him in the primary.

This article ignores a very important aspect of polling: How the question is worded. "Hey, Brad9883, should Social Security payouts be cut?" No! My grandfather has been paying into that compulsory system for five decades! He's still paying into it as an 81 year old school bus driver to supplement that income. "Ah-ha! Proof that the entitlement mentality runs deep, even among Tea Partiers!" Uhhh, no. Most Americans do agree that if someone has been forced to pay Social Security all of their lives, it is more morally wrong to arbitrarily take away what had been promised. How the hell is that a manifestation of an entitlement mentality "even among Tea Partiers?" I agree with a previous poster about opting out. I'll be 28 this year. Get me out of paying into Social Security yesterday! Hell, Uncle Sam can even keep what I've already contributed, just get me out!

Yes, plenty of facts. Oddly enough, everything conservatives have said would happen as a result of ObamaCare is happening. Deny if you wish, it doesn't change the facts. Those of us with any sort of basic understanding of economics have been warning of the 2008 crash for years (see, for example, Peter Schiff). You've got nothing.
