One point that seems to be overlooked is that it's a respiratory condition which does seem to be at its worst in winder months, like Flu. Come the spring and warmer weather,, this virus, which has been doing the rounds for a year now, is likely to cause fewer problems as people get out more and the weather improves. I even wonder whether the continuation of mass vaccination will even be needed by April or May.

How about some articles by people who can make the case for laissez-faire? I'm fed up with revamped stateism. If that's what people wanted, they would have voted for Corbyn. With the 40th anniversary of Ronald Reagan's inauguration justhaving passed, it is time to recall some of his great words and run our country according to them. Here's one of my favourites:- "Government is not a solution to our problem, government is the problem. ... Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them. Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it. ... The problem is not that people are taxed too little, the problem is that government spends too much." .

I was pleased when Johnson won a surprisingly large majority in December 2019 but now I can't wait to see the back of him. I do not trust him one iota and have no intention of voting Conservative as long as he is leader. He just about managed Brexit but has left a dreadful mess behind. His handling of the coronavirus crisis has been little short of catastrophic. He enthused about F D Roosevelt when if he wanted a model from the Untied States, it should have been Ronald Reagan. He has given up trying to cut immigration. I don't like his morality (or lack of it) either Sadly, he has turned out to be the country's sixth dud Prime Minister in a row. If I was an MP, my letter to the 1922 Committee would have been sent several months ago.

I would support council tax reform as long as it is accompanied by substantial local government reform. Anyone subscribing ti the TaxPayers' Alliance weekly e-mail will be under no doubt about the wastefulness of many councils. Let's see how far we can shrink the state and reduce the layers of government with local decisions made by referendum where possible. That would save a fortune.

"Tony Blair and Cameron had a unique ability to not only say the right words, but to do so in a way that the public related to." Well, sometimes. The public didn't relate to what Cameron said about the EU in 2016. As fro Blair, well, for all his smooth talking, everyone has seen through him now. He must be the most unpopular politician in the UK, loathed by left and right alike. Give me Desmond Swayne any day.

Sorry - no. We are already in enough of a mess with the Coronavirus crisis, which is affecting lives and messing up the economy. It's time to banish phrases like "man made climate change" and "emissions targets from our vocabulary. Joe Public has had a lifetime's worth of state intrusion in the space of less than a year. Let us get on with our lives. Trump was unbalanced and a bull in a china shop but at least he could see through all this nonsense.

The biggest mistake was not to shut our borders last Spring once this virus began to spread around the world. Australia, New Zealand and even Guernsey are almost back to normal because of their wise policy. If Boris Johnson had not overruled Priti Patel back then, we would not be in the current mess.,

Scrapping cash? Are you bonkers, Mr Baron? Yes, maybe criminals use it, but there are plenty of ordinary individuals like myself who quite deliberately use it as much as possible because of the anoymyity of it. I don't want every Tom, Dick and Harry to be able to trace each transaction I make. It's called freedom and I thought the Conservative Party was meant to believe in it. Anyway, this cold be yet another reason fro me not to vote Conservative next time.

We should certainly have shut our borders and introduced strict quarantine measures last March. Where this has happened (Australia, New Zealand, Guernsey) , life is far closer to "normal" than over here. Maybe it's a case of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, but if closing our borders will speed the return to normality in this country, I'm all for it - better than yet more lockdowns, mask wearing, etc.
