Good summary of last night with not much left to add.

I'm just glad that 2 comfortable wins in a row suggest we've finally rediscovered the knack of getting good away CL results again after a long miserable spell.

Frankly, I wouldn't want either Torres or Rooney.

Agree with above [or below, possibly] that Torres can't hack the EPL's physical demands and I've always thought Rooney is a timebomb too easily pushed into exploding. What's going on in his head now God knows, but combined with his loss of form and increasing worries he could become a Michael Owen-like injury-prone early burn-out I'd consider him a risk not worth taking.

Anyway I'd expect ManU to try very hard to hold out and insist he go abroad rather than to an EPL rival.

While we are on troubled souls, I see Fat Rafa has been vying for the Eric Cantona Cryptic Comment Award again:

Or perhaps Inter are looking for new sponsorship from the Italian Milk Marketing Board [should such exist].

Oooh err, thanks Nick - though I see replies are now collapsed and have to be opened up to read.

We could consider this scrolling downwards a homage to Kiss me Deadly [though writing your message from the bottom up is optional].

For impatient MTV generation readers the relevant part is at c 1:28.

Hi Nick - minor follow-up grumble I'm afraid.

I've tried your suggestion to sort by "last activity" to bring items with recent replies to the top of the blog rather than being buried with the original comment [though this exchange seems to have disappeared below?]. While this works, when I refresh the page to check for new comments it reverts to sort by "date". Is there any way to save preferred default?

Even The Promised Land isn't perfect ;-)

Do you mean all the bitching and sniping about wrong spelling in the comments on the first page of the link ;-)

Agree with Ringo about replies getting buried back up the page not being easy to spot. Is that easily fixable Nick?

The opportunity to re-write history seems to be generously boundless. I'm still being given the chance to edit my post above even though it's 3 hours old ;-)

Well, now this is more like it [but is Clive really only worth 1 pence?].

On balance a fair result I thought. Tend to agree with Benjami that Kakuta looked overwhelmed, but I suspect Carlo will persevere with him and other youngsters if only because Roman's spendthrift days are over.

Speaking of our youngsters I see the Daily Wail has turned the same level of penetrating analysis upon them it usually reserves for cancer scare and asylum seekers stories:

That must have taken all of 15 seconds to throw together ;-)

Well done Sir - if your dedication to radio listening while propping up the country doesn't stretch to Robert Elms on BBC Radio London on weekday early afternoons you won't know that this was voted the definitive version of the song over the Chuck Berry original by listeners just last Thursday.

Ooooh, the edit function IS back!!!
