Forgive me if this theory has already been floated, but it seem quite possible for us to meet the mother, but not in the present. What if the mother enters the picture, but only to help future Ted tell the story. And because future Ted does not have Josh Radnor's voice, the future mothers voice won't give us any clues to her present identity. What do y'all think?
