EA actually published the Arena Football game, but without the familiarity of the NCAA or NFL it lost steam quickly. That, and because there wasn't as much interest EA didn't put the time and effort into it that they do with their other licenses. Even the NCAA series suffers because of the attention and money made by Madden. The problem with it being an expansion for download is that EA would charge a ridiculous amount for it. Like with Madden, they just released the AFL 50th Anniversary pack for download on Xbox LIVE. It's roughly $6 and all it does is offer a few classic AFL uniforms and puts a filter on the screen for officially recognized AFL legacy games this season. Is that really worth 1/6 of the total retail price for the rest of the game? It's bad enough that they offer accelerators for franchise mode and dynasty mode in NCAA, basically cheats for cash. I say bring back the points for actions and achievements made in the game. Bring back the Madden cards even! Better yet, give the NFL license back to 2K games.

Unfortunately, I feel that the only people who may purchase this game are graduates of the featured schools. I'm not saying that the legacies of such historic schools, who promoted and changed the way education was made available to African Americans during the civil rights movement, but the majority of sports fans don't really care. EA does dominate the market, and for the first time in 7 years actually produced a game that felt like what a football video game on this generation should in Madden 10. With no competition, they've been free to put development on cruise control and make nary a tangible improvement until now. I don't think BCFX will sell, but I'm encouraged that someone else out there can actually put together a football game of any flavor and attempt to compete with EA. That's the American dream.

From an ESPN.com article located at http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=45169... Several teammates, including cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Ryan Stamper, said they were surprised by how much attention Tebow's injury has received. "I think the media is kind of blowing it out of proportion," Stamper said. "Again, the hit and how he was, I can't really say I blame them. ... But when we found out it was a concussion, everyone gets concussions. Stuff like that happens. I guess because it happened to him everyone is blowing it up, but I think he'll be fine."

A blog about nothing and everything. : Addressing the Tim Tebow post, part 2 of 3

Now that we have all the hate out of the way, I'd like to voice an opinion about Tim Tebow's future in the NFL and Florida players in general in the NFL. Tim Tebow is probably the most athletic, talented, charismatic, (insert adjective here) QB that we've ever seen in the NCAA. Maybe even player, not just QB. That being said, and the current path he's being guided on in his senior year, I think he's poised to fail at the next level. I'm going to pause for a moment to let all the stones/bullets whiz past me. Done? OK, moving on. With the current state of the NFL, whether it be the speed of the game, the general game plans most teams adhere to, or free agency, running QB's rarely run for more than a year. Sure, Michael Vick was a streak for his first few years in the league, and then Atlanta decided to teach him to throw. Vince Young made a huge impact his rookie year, even gracing the cover of Madden and being the youngest player ever to do so. Year 2? Replaced by Paw Kettle himself, Kerry Collins. With the price tag first round draft pics, especially QB's come at, no owner is willing to risk such a paycheck for a few yards scrambled. Even if a scrambler is good at it, he quickly realizes that EVERY player is as fast as the fastest player you ever played against in college. This is the time if there ever was one that Urban Meyer should be holding his boy back a little bit, protecting him and shepherding him towards an NFL play style. Heck, the gators could take at least 5 of the current NFL teams as is. This also means that he shouldn't be playing the boy wonder when he has the flu and is already up 31-0 in the 1st quarter. But, I digress. The University Of Florida has and likely always will be among the best of the best in college football, but did you know that out of the over 200 players they've sent to the NFL, only 1 is in the hall of fame? Sure, there are a few more that will be in due time (Emmit Smith), but they don't have the best track record. Remember the last few times UF won championships and their "prototype" QB went to the draft? Nobody wants another Rex Grossman or Chris Leak. I'll be waiting the second round of ammunition/inanimate objects hurled my direction. Florida fans are so used to winning, when anyone brings up a bad opinion, well...they're sore losers.

A blog about nothing and everything. : Jordan Crawford talks about dunk on LeBron

LeBron James has the same problem carrying himself as Billy Gillispie did here in Kentucky. You have to realize that when you're on the stage that you're on, and held under the microscope that people of your stature are that you have to conduct yourself better. There aren't a great many professional athletes that I have respect for. Though I'm a big sports fan, I just don't understand the salaries some people draw to play a game. Want to fix the American economy? How about some legislation on professional sports salary caps? What bothers me the most is that the people who play the least dangerous sports make more money. Hockey and football salaries should be higher than sports like baseball and basketball even if solely based on the amount of physical contact. Lebron, you make millions of dollars to put a ball through a hoop. STFU.

Not all toys that replicate potential dangerous activity lead to said activity long term, but I don't really see the point in teaching our children that covering their skin in ink is a great idea either. Some things are best left to real life lessons, because reality doesn't come with a reset button or a Konami code for 99 lives. Then again, I suppose it's not as bad as teaching your kids how to hire a hooker and kill her to get your money back in Grand Theft Auto. My jury's still out on this one.

A blog about nothing and everything. : LeBron James is an idiot

If LeBron was so keen to have a puppet of himself featured in NBA playoff commercials, then why is this such a big deal? Personally, I think someone should buy one and then stage a video of Big Bird dunking all over him on the Sesame Street playground. Imagine how many hits that would get before "King James" got all royally pissed. He should be more concerned with constructing a solid team around him so he doesn't get embarrassed so badly. Losing so badly to the Magic, who lost horribly to the Lakers doesn't exactly improve your image. Sure, next year he'll have Shaq and maybe they'll dust him off and make a run. Then all Skip Bayless will have to talk about is how LeBron can't win one without Shaq. Of course then Skip would be right for a change. Honestly, this is the type of behavior that comes when you skip college.

A blog about nothing and everything. : A Safe Cigarette? That's balderdash. Or is it?

The hardest hitting fact of all is knowing that safer alternatives such as the Safe Cig would be commonplace in this day and age if it weren't for corrupt government organizations like the FDA, who favor big tobacco and all the money it brings in rather than prolonging the lives of the citizens it was sworn to protect. Though they may preach to the public about the dangers of smoking, and make tobacco companies adhere to strict guidelines regarding advertisement to minors, it's no secret that they are ruled by the almighty dollar. Another prime example is the FDA's banning of a natural vitamin b supplement, pyridoxamine.
