I don't have to learn economics to buy a house in Penang certainly. Yes, the land are scarce. That is why the lands here shouldn't simply be sold to developers. As a person who actually care for Penangites, state government should be able to exert some control on the massive price hikes. There should be, especially for Penangites.
Not everything is about money, Sir. Some of us grow up here, goes to school here, have parents living here and we wish to stay near and take care of them as long as we can.
We don't need Penang to be like Singapore and HK. We just need it to be a place that we all can stay in peace and good living condition. The priorities should be for Penangites, not for some businessman from HK, Singapore, Japan etc.

And then, that will be a true, honest politician who actually care for the people.
Not everything should be turned into money. Not even our fading memories.

What do you know..You, are not buying house in Penang. Try going back to being a doctor and you can only buy an apartment/ condo in Penang Island. Some of the leasehold apartments are now freehold. That is what Guan Eng is doing, selling the land off to the developers.
