I've never needed to iron my ribbon.
If you have ribbon you feel needs to be ironed I would use a towel or a cotton tshirt between the ribbon and the iron.

I don't think I understand the question. The letters and numbers are stickers .... So they stick to the ribbon.
I didn't do anything special. The first year I learned that the grosgrain ribbon doesn't like stickers. So depending on your ribbon that could be the problem.

Mine is pretty watery with think spots. I keep a plastic spoon in the bucket and stir it before I scoop it out.
Even though mine never gets to honey... I've made three different batches since posting this. It still works.
