Here's a clue - they can't actually implement brexit. You cannot be in, and out of it, or have the bits that we like and not the rest, so at the moment we are going to be matching the EU but implementing legislation that it has designed to disadvantage us. Eg Financial Services Directives that help France get City business like euro clearing. You couldn't make this stuff up. Through Brexit we heave jettisoned sovereignty and now have no control. Oh, and we still pay for this.

Why is the Press Corps so eagerly stuffing our throats with royal wedding dress designs and flag waving morons camped out in Windsor Great Park? Surely we deserve a better press? And tomorrow is just going to barf inducing sycophancy with that "dreadful little man" Nicholas Witchell draping his tongue on the pavement before him, and endless ex-debs with names like Petronella Farquarharson-Ponsonby cooing about her headgear, as they interview star-struck plebs on the pavements and grovel and genuflect and get the tone wrong somehow.

Why on Earth is the Cup Final at 5.15? Its devalued! We used to get endless "Cup Final Build-up" with teams in new suits, leaving the hotel, on the coach down the M1, the road to Wembley, Motty and Barry Davies having orgasms, fans in the stadium, the marching military bands, Abide With Me, etc. Now it just comes on after racing has finished, and we have had a ten minute news bulletin, and the teams pass the ball around sideways, backwards, and probably field weakened teams to spare Carlos kickaballs' groin strain for the big international paydays on the "pre-season tour".

Its not democratic now that we know what a thin, empty shell of brexit is going to be delivered, to insist we hold to a vote taken when it meant resources for the NHS, Border Controls, the full cake and eat it with cherries on top farrago of lies and deceptions. If you cannot see what May is being reluctantly forced to accept is very different, then you are not looking. A democrat would accept the difference, and admit that the public has been diddled.

We still have to tell them that massacring kids with slingshots is unacceptable. Indeed we could do with toughening up on illegal settlement policy and violations of human rights in occupied territories. Palestinians support Hamas because Israelis have seen off everything else. They are rioting because of ten years of the blockade. They are fed up. Not terrorists, fed up with the stunted lives of poverty and discrimination that they are allowed by the occupiers.

Not leaving at all would be preferable to all the costly EU-lite alternatives, with their fantasy border and pay but have no say arrangements. We are heading back there as a result of the Government not actually knowing what it wants, or how to deliver it, but having rushed to punch the starting clock on Article 50. Dumb!

The tragedy is that now HR Depts dictate whether your three years were a success by this dreadful emphasis on upper seconds. I have met quite a few idiots with 2.1s in modular fodder with titles that end in ..studies" and others who got 2.2's in tough subjects that are far better humans and capable of postgrad study. People will end up studying "...studies" and dropping mech eng., maths and so on. And the degree jobs usually are what used to be A level jobs anyway.

But the "well-rounded" aspect of becoming an adult comes from living 200 miles away, learning to cook vegetarian, do your washing, attend art school parties, socialising generally - and the ones that lived at home when I did a degree seemed comparatively shy and weird.

The student experience has changed. The financial pressure and poverty is much greater. The absence of grants may have saved a lot of money but has turned student life into a purgatory with fewer options for socialising, smelly clothes, substandard accommodation, and loneliness away from home. Then we have the relentless pressure to get top grades and follow careerist courses, rather than those which are interesting. The idea of studying options like Anthropology or African History has become a two fingered salute to capitalism, when once we would value the critical faculties and reasoning skills such courses demanded. And if we want to do something about mental health more generally, restoring the previous funding would be a start. Palming it off to universities won't do. Families of anorexics and depressive condition teens are having to traipse to Scotland where they can find treatment as boarders - but nowhere near home.
