My wife and I were and are spectacularly pleased with the quality of the education he received. He is a solid conservative and suffered no attempt to indoctrinate him. It was a VERY solid science and math curriculum with a 90% attrition rate between the sophomore and senior years due to the dedication and work effort involved. As for conservative values, the characters played by Kyle and Connie. They work, they love, they pray, they value their family first and their community second. The only hand they extend is to offer help. It is a show that deserves the support of conservative THINKERS (rather than ideologues) as one of the very few consistently valued shows on the air. Yet they are two of my favorite TV shows, so I did a little fact checking because I have little tolerance for leftist BS. Leverage has had stories that span across a broad range of greed - several politicians, a judge, a couple of "Wall Street" type flim flam artists and the usual crop of Big Pharm, Big Insurance and what have you. Only the episode mentioned and one about a soldier wounded by a private contractor a la Halliburton, seem to be complete liberal nonsense. Out of 35+ episodes, that is well within my tolerance level. They have also saved a church and an orphan. In return, I get a show that is interesting and funny with some great characters. It may not be everyone's cup of tea party, but Leverage is good entertainment. I would hope that the people reading this article and the comments would not be discouraged from giving it a try. I played for a perfectly awful high school program, but I loved the game and I love sport. I also agree that conservatism is by definition a "big tent" and needn't bend to every contrary breeze. My fear of stridency comes from growing up Unitarian and seeing first hand dogmatic liberalism cloaked in the skin of "free thinking." Many of our Founders were Unitarians but by the 1960's there was no freedom within the organization to think any way but hard core liberal. Conservatism appeals because it is in fact "freedom loving" which to me means that we do not all bow down to same edicts. As such, I have no problem with the handling of the abortion issue on FNL, except for the baseless implication that if a school official doesn't condemn abortion, deranged protesters will promptly jump out from under every rock. Conversely, I have a huge problem with the Christian "honor killing" on NCIS. The later attempts a moral equivalency that just doesn't exist.
