Here's what amazes me about this, 'the most transparent administration in history'... What other administration could you open a discussion board on, and with nearly every single entry on the thread, another scandal is enumerated, scandals of such import that they would have sunk any other admin that didn't have a willing and submissively obedient national media to cover for it? Your story just illustrates my first axiom of modern life, post '60s; when you give little mean-spirited people a little bit of discretionary power, more often than we'd care to know, that is what they'll do with it. Yes, the little ones with the ominous briefcase are always the more effective... The drawback with using your man-mountain ex-Marine is they'd be itching to use their tasers at the first sign of menace, which would end up being a hand raised too quickly to wipe sweat from his brow, or reaching into his pocket for something. The real problem is that they give too much discretionary power to the wrong people, oftentimes, it goes to their heads, and then you get a circus case like a Rodney King beatdown. All because small people got a little taste of power. Fortunately they've been in the minority, usually, 'though they seem to be increasing. I see people, mostly men in unmarked vehicles, with all the hidden lights and all, but who are obviously desk jockeys for all that, pulling people over all the time in my town / city here in Florida. The extended LEO presence is a good thing, don't get me wrong, but here's where the little people/little power meme comes into play.

This just shows to go ya, if (strike that, when)you get a frantic call from a neighbor about the local law jackbooting around your property, call your attorney before you do anything else! and try to have that person meet you at your property. What puzzles me is how they took a perfectly good Craig Kilborn show, hosted by a slightly self-centered but affable host like Craig, and let it go to hell in a handbasket in the 11 years since"Stewart" took it over, if that is his real name. Kilborn's Daily Show was fast and loose, he didn't take himself seriously, he poked pins in the ego's that came on the show and they just generally had fun. Now it's some snarky little bitch who should have tennis elbow in both arms from all the clown nose on- clown nose off moments in a single broadcast.

I believe that the 5 were each assigned a different discipline, Saruman the greatest thirsted for the darker, arcane knowledge, Gandalf was a student of the people of the world, Radagast for the earth sciences, so to speak, and the other two likely split the elements between them, one for water/sea, one for air/fire..? You should look up a book called The Fiction Of JRR Tolkien; Master Of Middle Earth, by Paul H. Kocher. It's a great companion piece to the trilogy, and you should come away with greater insights into the characters, and thus a deeper appreciation of the trilogy for many subsequent readings. I found a new copy at Powell's books in Portland, bought it online. Check it out!
