Although I do myself play for achievements it takes the away the reason you play games. For fun, not for competitive reasons or acquiring a huge GS. Personally I think Achievements were made as an incentive for buying more games. Furthermore I would estimate a maximum of under half a million dollars made from people buying games purely for achievements. Alternatively, achievements really mean nothing, just that you've played a game, completed certain parts to it and that you might essentially be good at it. Otherwise It really doesnt mean that much.
