I realize this question will be considered "inconsiderate", "mean", and probably "sexist". However, women are only catching up to men in the number of cancers diagnosed annually. Cancer is not a 'primarily female' problem. In fact, it appears the reason an increasing number of women are being diagnosed with cancer is partly due to their engaging in activities that were previously male-dominated. (E.g. certain working conditions, use of tobacco, increased alcohol use, etc.) It amazes me that if you ask most young women the leading cause of cancer deaths in US women they usually give an immediate response of "breast cancer". While the emphasis on breast cancer has improved detection and treatment, the number one cause of cancer deaths among women is still ** lung cancer **, a far more easily preventable illness with the cessation of tobacco use.
