Maybe it's just me, but I would never run for office, just knowing that things I've done in the past would be brought up, nothing horrible, but I still wouldn't want my husband and children to know I consistently had a boyfriend and a back-up. JMO, but you're not taking all of the facts into consideration. If State A runs a 25% tax rate on businesses but State B runs a 20% tax rate, a company would keep more of the money it earns by moving to State B. This might enable said company to offer lower rates on their product, compensate their workers a bit more, buy business equipment or even keep more profits for stock holders. Say the company earns $3 million annually. In State B, they'd get to keep $150,000 more of that money than in State A, which they could then choose to reinvest in the business.

My youngest daughter won't eat meat, even though my life would be so much easier if she did. So, when I take my kids to McD's, I can't order her a Happy Meal. She won't eat it. So, I get her Apple Dippers (but ditch the sauce) and buy her the toy separately. It's really that simple. I don't buy her any unhealthy food but she still gets her toy. Lol, do you know how many times a day I have to tell my kids 'No" to some silliness? My 6 yo wants me to take her to the toy store or buy her lollipops every day. And, as a responsible parent who isn't wealthy, I tell her "No" almost as often as she asks. No big deal, just doing my job as a mom. This lady needs to just do her job and stop expecting that McDonald's should do it for her. I'm not going to sue Fur Real Friends for their ads on my kids' television shows. It's not their job to discourage my kids from wanting their product.

I totally agree... Why aren't teachers treated like other professionals? As a customs broker (quit to be a mom), I was expected to perform my duties to a certain standard, and I would have been fired has I not done so. Why don't we expect people who are being paid to do the extremely important job of educating our children to that standard? My children are in private school, because I want them to receive the kind of education I got in a public school in the 1970's.

I feel so blessed that I am able to send my children to a private school. Their teacher to student ratio is 10:1 for the lower grades, 15:1 for high school. It means some sacrifices on our part, but my children cannot wait for the school system to get itself straightened out. I wish I could opt out of paying the portion of my property taxes that goes to schools, but, alas, not in this state.

I don't really know enough about Herman Cain to make that assessment. If he were running, I'd have to research him pretty thoroughly, of course. I know he's a good speaker, but so is Obama. And I had sussed him out as a commie long before the election.
