Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Pac-10 power rankings

I have to say that while the coaches and players have to accept some of the blame for this season, Bobby D has to also be looked at. Why schedule TCU in a one game in Dallas? Sure they played TCU tough, BUT THEY LOST! And I know it gave the Rogers Brothers a chace to play close to home, but really do we do that for all our players? So, we already have a good Louisville team and Boise State as part of a home and home schedule why play TCU? Who really though this was a good idea? Play Rice or Houston, but TCU? Why not just stay with Eastern Washington like we already had scheduled. With that on change we would have 6 wins already and be looking at a real shot at the Holiday Bowl. What does Bobby D have in mind for next season? We already have BYU and Wisconsin......who is Bobby D going to schedule us against Auburn? Where is San Diego St. or San Jose St or Utah State or UNLV, these OOC shedules that Bobby D has us playing have never worked for us how many Penn States, LSUs and TCUs do we have to lose before he gets it??? Maybe Riley is untouchable as coach, but how about dumping Bobby D and promoting Riley to AD.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Stanford fallout

We have beat Number 1 teams before (although Oregon is Number 2 in the BCS rankings) so the Beavers can pull off the upset. It is up to Riley and his coaches to get the team ready to play and get them fired up. This will be a test of Riley and his coaching staff.

It takes time for some of us to admit the Beavs seem to have peaked, myself included. The last two years we were in the hunt for the Rose Bowl, until we got beat by the Ducks. And we ended up the Sun and the Las Vegas Bowls. I didn't realize until the Stanford game just how far we had fallen, and all Riley can say is he will have to review the tapes....

Brooks Hatch : Brooks Hatch: 11/17 Wednesday update

Brooks, I have to ask, do other conferences have as many complaints about their officials? A few years ago is was celebration penalties, there have been issues with the replay officials. etc. It seems that it is always something with the Pac-10 officials, or is it just that we see the Pac-10 officials so much?

Exactly right Brooks, how can none of his teammates have his back? I found in unbelieveable. And the same WSU player did the same thing it Katz later in the game. Cliff noted in his blog that Riley was taking no action. Does one of his players have to get really hurt before he takes some action, oh wait, James got hurt against Arizona. There are times when a 15-yard penalty is worth it, especially when the Pac-10 is not going to do anything about it.

Does one of the Beavers have to get seriously hurt before Riley will stand up for his players? To allow these hits on Jacquizz to continue is rediculous. Maybe the opposing coaches are not having their players target him, but he is being targetted. What does it take for Riley not to let this be "swept under the rug"

One can hope, but I have very little faith in Bobby D. He seems to have a thing for scheduling games where we get on nationwide TV in a game we get creamed in.

Cliff, I want to amplify one of your point...."it was the schedule" Of course this is after the fact, but the schedule is really hurting the Beavers not just this year, but for the last several years. The Beavers move the Stanford game to be the season opener so we can play Penn State. We lose, put that on in the win column and we would have been in the Rose Bowl, regardless of the Civil War loss. This season, we have both TCU and Boise State on the road. The schduleing needs to be closely looked at. Do we have to schedule Penn State, LSU, TCU games where we play one game at their house without a return? Next season we have Wisconsin and BYU on the schedule now, who will we schedule for the third OOC game?

Cliff, I have to agee with SnohoBeav. You must be really wanting to get to San Diego. If the Beavs won all of our remaining games, maybe. But the Holiday has had chances at the Beavers the last two years and passed. They have had the 2nd choice until this year when the Pac-10 hooked up with the Alamo Bowl. And hasn't the Holiday Bowl been saying the Beavers were high on their list for several years? The Alamo is going for TV revenue and name recognition, and that means Stanford maybe Arizona. The only national recognition the Beavers have is for playing the Penn State, LSUs, and TCUs and getting beat. Look for the Alamo and Holiday to take Stanford and Arizona and the Sun to take Cal, IF the Beavers get 6 wins look for them in the KraftFightHunger Bowl....

12,000 by 2012 is going to be tough with a team like this one. Too many people thought things were fixed after the Cal game, but think about it. It was 28 - 0 at the half, we score on the first drive of the 3rd quarter then go into our "lets not lose this one" offense. This game was a continuation of that game. We have lost to UCLA and Washington, two teams we should never have lost to! Those games against TCU and Boise State really, really helped the Beavers. 12,000 by 2012 may not be realistic.

And by the way, I know many people that have said don't worry about those non-conference games, its the Pac-10 record that counts......well we are not doing so well with those Pac-10 games and at this rate two more wins in non-conference are looking huge! We should go 3-0 every season in the non-conf schedule....

Are you all still glad we played TCU and Boise State rather then say San Jose St, or San Diego St, or for that matter Portland State, but playing somebody we could have beat and got 2 additional wins.....but no we get two losses. So now we are 4-4 with 4 games left and we have to win 2 just be bowl eligable......

You will have to point out "something nice" about an ALL-STATE quarterback being our Punter. The guy is suppose to be a punter, I don't care what he did in HIGH SCHOOL he is in college now. When I'm in Reser and the announcer says " Johnny Hekker on in Punt formation" I cringe, and no matter what his teammates or coachs say I'll bet they do the same. How long would you put up with a QB missing passes? As long as we have put up with Kahut? If they were getting better and more consistant fine but they are not.
