Apparently Newt wants us to live by the laws of Saudi Arabia. They stone people there for adultery, don't they? Is he down with that?

New York Jews would just love that. How about if you go back to your mega-church in the middle of nowhere and just lock your hatred in there?

Oh please, please do. Because New Yorkers really don't take that sort of intolerant shite very well at all. THAT would be fun to watch. Of course, first you'd all have to get hotel rooms in Times Square.

Or just a clueless rube who doesn't know the first thing about New York or America. I've noticed that there are a lot of angry Russians on this site, for some reason. Please focus on messing up your own country. Kthxbye.

That's right, because that is what America is all about. "Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled massed yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teaming shore. Send these, the homeless tempest tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door." Or would you like to tear down the Statue of Liberty? You probably would.

As if you are a New Yorker or have ever even been there. Not. Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, and if people want to build a community center, which is very much needed in that area, then that seems like a great idea. You sound like, well, you know what you sound like, people who have demonized other religions in the past.

Mexico is not socialist. Sweden is, sort of. Norway too, in a way. Pretty much every country in Europe has some form of government involvement in healthcare, if that makes a country socialist, but then, that would mean that Canada is too, and well, pretty much every developed country in the world. How are you defining socialism? And thanks for the interesting, and civil, discussion, by the way. I appreciate it.

This is really very funny. I am sitting here trying to work out a way to prove that I'm white. Can't think of one though, short of posting a photo, which doesn't seem like a great idea. Well, ok, I say I am, you don't believe me, I'm not sure there is anything I can do about that. Charlie Rangle has ethics issues, obviously. It's not like all Republican elected officials are pure and clean. I mean, that's quite a rogue's gallery you have on that side of the aisle. I believe that it is actually, ironically, states that tend to vote Republican that are the net recipients of federal money. States that tend to vote Demcratic mostly don't get back what they pay. But I'm ok with that, because I believe that in this country, as wealthy as it is on so many different levels, it would be shameful to not provide a decent safety net for our more vulnerable citizens. To me, that's part of being a civilized society. And I pay, oh boy do I pay. You know what else I pay, massive real estate taxes, much of which goes to our local public school system, which is excellent and a reason that people move here. The thing is, our children are not in the public school system, so that's five figures we get no direct benefit from (the school system does keep real estate prices high though, because there's a lot of demand to live here, so we benefit in that way, I guess), and that's ok, because strong schools are important.

Thank you for your civil response, it is nice to see. I don't take this personally because, well, I'm one of those rich white people, so attacks on people of color are personal attacks on my values, but not on me, per se. I think that your comment about people getting angry first and then wanting to get violent is very offensive, and wrong. I mean, KKK, right? Violence. People of all races can turn to violence, that doesn't mean that any one race is more disposed to than others. And again, like I said, I'm one of the rich white people who is going to get seriously hit when the Bush tax cuts expire, but that's ok with me. Less renovation on the house, but better for our country, and it's the country I live in, was born in and care about, so I'm willing to take a bit of personal pain to help the country out. When Joe Biden said that paying taxes is patriotic, I totally agreed. I'd rather have the money, sure, I have an old house that is falling apart, but I can deal for another year or two, I'm not starving, in fact, we go out to dinner at nice restaurants three or four times a week, I have nice clothes, and nothing is broken that we can't find a way to fix. I'd rather drive an old Mercedes instead of a new one and have an unrenovated bathroom for another few years, if it will help the country get back on its feet. I realize I sound like a spoiled white woman, but that's sort of my point, given that I've been called an undocumented unemployed immigrant on this thread, for some bizarre reason. I wanted you to see who I actually am. We have money. We are white. We hate racism. And we always vote Democratic, as do all our wealthy neighbors.

Undocumented people are not allowed to vote in this country. Like I said elsewhere, if you lived here, or ever had, you'd know that. If you are looking to recruit angry racists to betray their country, you need to at least go to another thread, because no one appears to be biting here.

Yeah, I worked out your number about 12 hours ago. You know so little about our country and our electoral system that there is no way you live here or ever have. You're probably some kid in his parents' apartment in Moscow of where ever hoping to get the spy gig, appealing to angry racists who might want to betray their country, because, well, that whole spy thing pays really well, and you apparently don't have to do anything but party. But your Spanish is way better than mine, so kudos to the Russian system on that, although it doesn't say much because my Spanish is pure tourist stuff. Anyway, I think you have to be a hot chick to do the spy thing, so sorry. Later. Much.

I'm not sure why you think it is an insult to call me a Latina immigrant. Could you please explain why you keep pounding away at that as if it is somehow relevant, or insulting? And second language, first language or fifth language, that doesn't change the fact that the correction is valid.

It's not sacred, it's fact. My opinion has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with numbers, percentages, to be exact (those are the numbers with the little % sign after them, usually), and the percentage of white voters who supported Obama. These numbers are not exactly secret. You have Google, right? Again, I have no idea what this insult is supposed to mean. I guess you are saying immigrants are somehow stupid? And not welcome here? Because that's pretty un-American. Or, hmmm, inner tube, so immigrants from Latin America are stupid and not welcome here. Are you saying that, because if you are, can you pretty please get some of your reps to say that too, out loud and proud? I mean, what's the point in having an opinion if you're ashamed of it. And if you're not ashamed of those opinions, why won't your politicians come right out with them? Now, like i said, if you're going to make these canned, coded comments and not explain them, then doesn't that mean that you are ashamed of your opinions? If someone asks you what you mean by some of this stuff and you refuse to say, what does that say about what you know, deep down inside, about the value of those opinions?

Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution. You know that document, right? Not so much homework involved there. Well, there is apparently a lot of correcting that needs to be done, apparently. Now, what is up with the frijoles comment? My beans are showing? I have no idea what that is intended to mean. Perhaps you could explain what beans is intended to be slang for and how that comment is intended to be insulting, which I am guessing it was. Section 2 - The House The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature. No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

You understand that we don't deport citizens, right? Baloshka? If not, well, you are welcome. If so, what point is it that you are repeatedly trying to make? I don't get how people on this site don't have the balls to just come out and say what they mean. I mean, have the opinion or not, but if you're going to have it, what is the point of being afraid to say it? I've never seen such a bunch of cowards in my life - afraid to stand up for their own opinions, all about the innuendo? You don't see that on liberal blogs. People are not ashamed of their views there. But then, I guess they have no reason to be.

You make many good points, I have to say. It will be all about turn out in November, no question. Now, how do you explain all those wealthy, educated white neighborhoods voting Democratic year after year? All the women? All the young people? Go for it with the video cameras, everyone should do that, seriously. The more poll watchers the better. And you may well have the enthusiasm advantage, because hatred is a powerful motivator. But if you think the teabagger movement is about wealthy, educated America, well, that's about as wrong as it gets, because, well, you lot are neither. Wealthy white people overwhelmingly vote Democratic, especially the educated ones. So, if you're a teabagger because you, sadly, want to be in with the cool rich kids, the cool rich kids are Dems. If it's about self-interest, you need to take a second look. If it's about hating people who have made better lives for themselves in this country than you have, well, you also need to take a second look, because hatred is not going to pay for your medical care, or your roads, or your cops, teachers or firefighters.
