Nice! Maybe your daughter will one day share a picture of your stuff on her blog! When you are a big fan of a team, you usually don't throw away the stuff you get from going to the games over the years. Your dad has a cool "man cave". Let's Go Mets!

Main concern right now is the feeling that the Mets are not able to take on a big contract. What if a stud like King Felix were made available to the Mets? Could they afford his salary? Five years and 80 mil just wasn't going to cut it.

OnTheBlack.com - New York Mets Blog | Baseball Video Blog | Mets News : 2011 Player Review: Pedro Beato

He is a good guy to have for depth in the bullpen. He throws hard, has pretty good movement on his pitches, and his strike out to walk rate was the best of his career. The only thing is the consistency of his command. He gave up 6hr's last year, but overall I think he has been pretty good. I think he and Pedro Beato have live arms and the Mets should (and will) be very active in the upcoming Rule 5 draft looking for a quality arm to add to the bullpen. Guys like this would thrive in a 6th-7th inning role if the Mets had a pair of quality set up men and a quality closer. Although it didn't work out, Minaya's plan of having Putz-Rodriguez to shorten the game was a good one (imo).

I think Pedro had a very promising rookie campaign. He also had a nice little run from June 14 thru July 31. 1-0 with 5 holds and a .600 ops against. I think the Mets should make an effort to resign Izzy, and then get some bodies in here for the Bullpen ASAP. I would like at least one frontline closer type....maybe they could take a chance on Broxton or Capps?

MLB Is a Godsend! Thanksgiving is when it really starts to heat up. The Google news tab is how I keep abreast of what is going on in the world of baseball. I just Google 'Mets' and hit the news tab and then sort it by date and the most recent web postings will place on top. On The Black is my back up source....Keep up the great work!

Little by little the starting pitching is becoming a strength. Niese, Capuano, and Big Pelf have been turning it up a notch, and I expect Dickey will be able to make that big pitch son.

I like Harris a little better than Hairston in that I think he is better defensively. Unfortunately, we have not seen any of the production that Hairston has shown thru out his career against leftys (279/.3236/.498). Its rough when you get off to a slow start. I think whoever is hot will be the guy that plays.

OnTheBlack.com - New York Mets Blog | Baseball Video Blog | Mets News : Should David Wright Bat 3rd or 5th?

In my opinion it is a BIG deal to move Wright from third to fifth. The old version of Wright as a hitter (2004 thru mid season 2008) would k about 115 times. This new version will K about 165 times. Those 50 ab's without making any contact in that position of the order is huge. Even if someone hits .250..those 12-13 extra hits a year would probably win a few ball games. Who knows what the compound effect is on the lineup, extending rallys, etc. Unless David reverses course..I feel his bat would be an asset at number 5. He would still be a middle of the order run producer.

As far as Managers and Executives go I would put Hodges ahead of Johnson. Gil single handily broke the mentality of losing from The Met's psyche. The 1969 miracle remains right up there with putting a man on the moon as one of God's greatest miracles! As far as putting a list like this together.A very difficult task. I guess you can break it down by looking at the contributions to their four World Series teams first and then career accomplishments second? Or Vice versa? Rusty Staub was the offensive heart of the 1973 WS team as was Piazza in 2000. The 1986 team was filled with stars and was probably the only dominant team in Mets history
