One was the duration of temperatures (6 weeks) never getting above zero. The other was the minus temperatures broke record cold temperatures set in 1894. Sorry all you fans of boregore but I do not like those minus temperatures. Neither did my roses. I lost all of my white rose bushes that year. We had a popular garden talk show and caller after caller called in commenting on how many bushes had died. Along came the bleeding heart politically correct who demanded they had a right to their personal freedoms. Cold, hungry, needing medicines is a miserable way to try and survive. These people do not function well enough to hold down a job, therefore do not have the money for medicines that would help them. So they are on the streets. We forcefully gave them rights but a person who is mentally unstable does not make good decisions. They can not understand they need help. So they spiral downward into not being able to care for themselves. Those on medicines know they walk a fine line. Take them off their meds and they too will be on the streets. They have to be monitored. Family and doctors work to keep them functioning.
