Your baggage gets check multiple times for all kinds of different things and you have to go through metal detectors with your shoes off, then they get the magic wand out, and if they feel like it they "pat " you down, and then after looking with an x-ray machine that can see different types of materials at your carry on they can ask to open it up dump it out and make you step aside to put things back together. Then if you take too long and the power drunk inspector thinks you're taking too long he/she can take you to a private room to ask you questions, and possibly search you further. That is fear mongering, not the little title at the begining of this story.
